Founded in 1967, Blue Ridge Community College has served the residents of the central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia for over 50 years. The Houff Library of Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC) in Weyers Cave, VA is seeking a creative and collaborative Instruction & E-Resources Librarian (Professional Faculty). Candidates should be enthusiastic, highly motivated people who can help address the needs of a diverse college community while effectively providing and promoting library services and resources as part of the library team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Communicate effectively with faculty and staff relating to library operations.
• Engage with students to understand their needs concerning the library environment and services.Assist library users through traditional and electronic reference services at the service desk, by individual research appointments, and via live online chat
• Develop, assess and teach information literacy instruction sessions for face-to-face and online instruction
• Create and maintain library guides and instructional materials for the library website including research guides and online tutorials
• Effectively use, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot technology resources
• Manages Alma integrated library system
• Collaborate in design, development, and maintenance of Houff Library’s web presence
• Develop and manage web resources, including LibGuides
• Participate in library policy and procedure development
• Track and organize library usage data and other statistics and generate regularly scheduled reports
• Pursue professional development opportunities
• Serve on BRCC committees and participate in other college and community service
• Additional duties may include basic cataloging, ILL, and/or assisting with collection maintenance

Requires:

• ALA accredited Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS/MLIS)

Prefer:

• Teaching experience
• Experience working in a library or relevant experience in related field
• Experience working in an academic library
• Experience using LibApps, including LibGuides and LibChat
• Experience developing library web content
• Experience using Alma integrated library system
