Lecturer of Psychology Job at Upper Iowa University
The Psychology Department at Upper Iowa University invites applicants for a Lecturer position starting August 2023 at the Fayette Campus. We are seeking candidates able to teach a wide range of courses, such as Introduction to Psychology, Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Ethics, Counseling Skills, and Research Methods.
The standard teaching load is four courses per semester in a 2-2, eight-week session system. The course load includes a combination of face-to-face and online courses in undergraduate and graduate programs.
This is a non-tenure, nine-month full-time position designed to support new department initiatives and has the potential to become a tenure-track position after three years. Applications received by December 1, 2023 will receive priority, but the position is open until filled.

The new Lecturer of Psychology will have the following responsibilities: ·
- Teaching graduate and/or undergraduate students in assigned course(s);
- The utilization of effective, student-centered teaching techniques; ·
- Productive service to the university and the community; ·
- Keeping up with developments in their professional area; ·
- Maintaining six office hours per week; ·
- Abiding by and upholding the University’s mission, policies, and core values; ·
- Developing and/or implementing the class syllabus, planning and creating course materials such as lectures, discussions, and other activities.
- Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field (ABDs welcome to apply);
- Potential to succeed in teaching and professional-service activities;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Demonstrated ability and desire to work collegially with faculty from diverse cultural backgrounds;
- The ability to work with, and be sensitive to, the educational needs of students from culturally diverse and/or underserved populations.
- Ph.D. in Psychology
- Experience teaching Master’s-level student
- Experience in either industrial organizational, applied experimental, or assessments methodology
