Director of Surveys (Mid-Atlantic)
CCJM is a multi-disciplined, minority-owned engineering firm that has been providing a broad range of professional engineering services to the public and private sectors for over 40 years. We seek a highly motivated Director of Surveys to direct survey services in Maryland, Washington DC, and Pennsylvania.
The Director of Surveys is licensed to practice surveying and is responsible for the operation of the survey department. Additionally, the post holder delivers projects and services to clients that consistently exceed customer expectations and standards for business excellence. The Director of Surveys achieves this through direct activity and delegating to survey group members. The Director of Surveys is also responsible for developing and leading a team of professionals who build strong customer relationships.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
1. Project Management
· Establish client and project plans, including budgets and schedules, that align with the survey group goals
· Build and maintain strong client relationships
· Prepare technical and price proposals for internal and external clients
· Oversee team workflow for maximum efficiency
· Strive to improve efficiency through increasing billable hours and reducing costs
· Effectively communicate, coordinate, and cooperate with appropriate service areas to maximize efficiency and customer service
· Prepare and approve change orders and addenda to contracts.
· Complete the project billing process on time.
· Regularly review and evaluate the status of outstanding accounts receivable. Assume ultimate responsibility for the collection of amounts due.
2. Staff Management
· Build, supervise, develop, and mentor direct reports
· Evaluate and anticipate knowledge and skill needs and ensure appropriate project staffing levels to meet them
· Coordinate internal work activities to provide seamless client service
· Set team performance standards to meet the goals of CCJM and coach team members to achieve high performance
· Hold direct reports accountable for meeting individual, team, and organizational goals
3. Technical Leadership and Expertise
· Maintain an active marketing role for the company with an emphasis on business development and service area growth
· Maintain a thorough knowledge of functional areas of surveying
· Build and maintain a thorough understanding of technical practices, principles, and interrelationships of broad areas and knowledge of general business practices
· Serve as a technical advisor and knowledge resource by training and assisting other team members

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in the appropriate field
- Professional registration in MD, PA, DC, or VA
- Minimum of 7 years of responsible experience in the design/management of multi-disciplined projects
- Supervisory experience
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Strong computer skills, including AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, InRoads, Microsoft Office

Pay: $75,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
