In this position, you will be responsible for the cleanliness and organization of the studio space and its machines, tools, and specialized equipment. You will offer technical support and mentoring to students and assist in creating a safe work environment by enforcing studio policies, including OSHA and EPA regulations, and best practices for proper use of studio equipment.
The ideal candidate should have a comprehensive knowledge of shop tools and techniques such as lost wax casting, acetylene torches, fabrication techniques, and soldering, stone setting, and electrochemical processes. Specialization in 3D printing and lost wax casting is preferred. Excellent organizational skills and computer skills are a must.
Position Summary: SCAD seeks a Jewelry Technician to help maintain the jewelry studio space at Savannah’s Fahm Hall.
A specialization in 3d printing and lost wax casting processes is preferred. Software proficiencies:
- Rhino, matrix, zBrush, Illustrator and Photoshop, and similar software and basic computer skills.
- Ability to maintain an organized, clean, and especially, safe working environment.
- Enforces OSHA and EPA regulations.
- Oversee all studio equipment and maintenance and inventory of materials.
- Excellent organizational skills and computer skills are necessary.
Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
