The City of Syracuse (Division of Code Enforcement) is looking for qualified candidates for the position of Periodic Inspection Coordinator.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

This work involves the performance of routine tasks in the processing and maintenance of special periodic inspections as required by local legislation. The nature of the work involves acting as a liaison between professional personnel in program planning, coordination or administration towards meeting targeted compliance, as well as the provision of public information regarding same. In addition, the work also largely involves executing day-to-day functions to meet set compliance objectives. Does related work as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES & PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

· Good knowledge of office terminology, procedures and methods

· Good knowledge of business arithmetic and English

· Good knowledge of modern principles and practices of office and personnel management

· Good knowledge of the principles and modern practices of record keeping

· Good knowledge of the functions of local government and of the character of relationships between departments and between public and private agencies

· Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions

· Ability to use project management tools and other technology that allows for maintenance of reviews and approvals as they pertain to individual application types

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with an Associate’s Degree or higher.

Two (2) years of professional work experience or its part-time equivalent in one of the following areas: project management; project coordination; event coordination; office management; construction management; or customer service otherwise.
