Industrial Fabrication Services (I.F.S.) in Lake Crystal, Minnesota is a custom metal fabrication facility that builds metal components for many bulk material-handling industries. Currently, I.F.S. employs about 75 people in a 75,000 square foot facility. I.F.S. is located 12 miles southwest of Mankato, Minnesota, just off of Highway 60, in the Lake Crystal Industrial Park. From this location I.F.S. ships products throughout the continental U.S.A., Canada, Mexico and worldwide. I.F.S. works primarily with general contractors, custom equipment manufacturers, mining companies, agricultural processors, and power generation facilities.

Position Expectations

• Come to work every day, on time, prepared to work as directed by supervisor
• Apply protective coatings to large industrial structures
• Use proper protective equipment
• Comply with safe painting practices and environmental standards (per EPA and OSHA regulations)
• Prep material before painting following SSPC painting practices
• Estimate time and quantity of materials required
• Apply high-build epoxies, acrylics, polyurethanes, as well as industrial enamels according to project specifications
• Utilize NDE testing equipment (thickness gauge, holiday testing equipment, wet-film thickness gauge etc.)
• Coordinate with shop foreman for space requirements of dry time and materials layout
• Maintain clean and organized equipment and paint booth (i.e. sprayer equipment, and application tools – brushes)
• Assess issues with surface preparation, such as anchor pattern and blasting issues
• Assist in identifying welds and excessive splatter to be repaired
• 1 to 3 years of industrial painting experience in contract manufacturing environment

• Must be able to find defects before, during or after painting
