Industrial Hygiene Technician Job at Gopher Resource, LLC (Eagan)
Position Purpose:
Reporting to the Director of Industrial Hygiene, the Industrial Hygiene Technician conducts routine air and surface monitoring to help validate the effectiveness of our exposure controls and hygiene processes and to identify opportunities for improvement.
Critical Success Criteria:
- Work closely with stakeholders to plan, schedule, and execute quarterly personal and monthly area monitoring campaigns.
- Conduct monitoring in accordance with established procedure, including detailed documentation of worker activities and workplace conditions during the time monitoring is conducted.
- Maintain industrial hygiene equipment to ensure calibration and proper working condition.
- Support management of laboratory data, reporting, and generation of employee notification letters.
Other Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain a working knowledge of company, OSHA, and other relevant guidelines and standards.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED minimally required.
- 2+ years of experience in a heavy industrial work environment.
- 2+ years using Microsoft Office products, including Outlook.
- 1+ year of experience of written and oral communication to/from management and employees.
- Travel to Tampa approximately two weeks each quarter.
- Availability and willingness to work during 2nd shift as needed.
- Ability to climb stairs, catwalks, and ladders with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds and carry equipment to work areas with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment including but not limited to respirator, hard hat, eye protection, and hearing protection, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to work in hot environments with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in Health and Safety or related STEM field from accredited school preferred, but not required.
- At least 2 years of previous work experience in a heavy industry environment preferred, but not required.
- 2+ years of experience conducting industrial hygiene monitoring preferred, but not required.
