QUESTIONS
Inspects a variety of complex construction projects, including pumping stations, force main, gravity conveyance systems, Improvement District, and private and subdivision sewers to assure compliance with plans, specifications and agreements of work. The position also inspects work for compliance with the City's standards and specifications.
Current Vacancies:
There are two vacancies with Department of Environmental Services, Collection System Maintenance Division, located in the Halawa Baseyard. Anticipated work hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., but may require shift, evening, night, weekend or holiday work to accommodate unusual problems or workload and construction schedules. If not provided a city vehicle, employee is required to provide a personal vehicle for regular job transportation and be compensated at union contract rates.
Positions involve occasional exposure to construction and traffic hazards, sewage gases, sewer treatment chemicals, paint fumes, noise, electrical hazards, and moving equipment; some physical dexterity required to occasionally perform field investigations which includes climbing ladders, descending into trenches, tanks and manholes, crawling through pipes, carrying sampling, measuring and testing equipment and walking on uneven or obstructed surfaces.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may substitute for education.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Six years of experience as an inspector of construction, one of which shall have involved the inspection of pumping stations or treatment plants.
Quality of Experience: Having the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as qualifying for the position. Your overall experience must have been of such scope, level, and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a valid Hawaii State driver's license (type 3), prior to appointment.
