OVERVIEW
The Programme and Project Partners (PPP) model was mobilised in 2019 with the purpose of transforming major project delivery at the Sellafield nuclear site.
The partnership brings together KBR, Jacobs, Morgan Sindall Infrastructure, Altrad Babcock and Sellafield Ltd to deliver a 20-year pipeline of major infrastructure projects to support the decommissioning of Sellafield and to create a clean and safe environment for future generations.
In delivering its pipeline of large-scale infrastructure projects, PPP is creating opportunities for its people, supply chain, economy and communities.
KBR’s rapidly growing nuclear team of teams is working at the forefront of the UK’s nuclear space on some of the most exciting new-build, defence and decommissioning programmes.

Project Controls and Commercial Services (PCCS) is the mechanism in which Sellafield Ltd have engaged KBR Ltd to provide Commercial and Project Controls Services to the portfolio of enterprise projects, in addition to the original PPP programme. Those services include the provision of some 150+ Commercial and Project Controls Professionals across the Sellafield Ltd network of Projects.
The role
Working with a small, but mighty HR team, you will play an integral part in supporting us deliver an excellent people-centric service to our managers and employees working on a major programme. This will be a varied role where you will gain exposure to a wide variety of HR tasks and initiatives, including but certainly not limited to administration, resourcing and recruitment, employee relations and employee experience.

Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship Programme
. During this apprenticeship, you can apply for
CIPD Student Membership
and access valuable study resources, with the opportunity to build your network through CIPD local branches, online communities, and student conferences.
Upon completion of the optional Apprenticeship, you’ll upgrade to
Associate CIPD Membership
. Your CIPD membership and all you’ll learn in your Apprenticeship will combine, meaning your knowledge will be recognised both inside and outside the people profession. This will prove your credibility as a professional, raise your profile and open doors to new opportunities in KBR.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Working alongside the HR Advisor to ensure contracts and terms and conditions letters are issued and stored safely
Update the HR system (Workday) on cases of starters, leavers, contract changes
Ensure paperwork is issued and returned in a timely manner including probation forms and sickness return to work forms
Assist employees with recording their time worked on their timesheet
Updating Excel spreadsheets for various people data
Maintaining employee personnel folders
Assist with the onboarding of new starters
Responding to the shared HR mailbox and escalating queries where necessary
Assist the HR team with initiatives and projects
Uphold and maintain the brand, image and professionalism of the HR team
Assist the Recruitment and Resourcing teams with administration activities (e.g. interview notes, updating resourcing databases)
Any other duties as reasonably requested
Who are we looking for?
Although we don’t expect you to have any previous experience of working in HR, experience of working in a customer-focused role is essential. Working in HR involves engaging with a wide range of people and dealing with challenging situations as they arise, so we want someone that is approachable and has a can-do attitude.
We’d also want you to have administrative skills as a large part of your role will involve using HR systems and keeping records up to date. In addition, we would also love you to have the below qualities:
Willingness to learn and get involved
Attention to detail is extremely important
Great communication and interpersonal skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft packages, in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Trustworthy and discreet – as we are handling people data, its important you deal with matters in a confidential way
Comfortable working in a continually changing environment
Be organised and comfortable juggling multiple pieces of work
To fully immerse yourself into this apprenticeship, we would like the successful candidate to work in our clients’ office based in Warrington. Flexibility on days may be considered. This way you can get to know the HR team and build strong working relationships with managers and employees across the programme.
We may also consider candidates who wish to work on a part-time basis.
