Housekeeping Aide Job at Helen Keller Services
The Mission of the Helen Keller National Center for Deaf-Blind Youths and Adults is to enable each person who is DeafBlind to live and work in his or her community of choice. Authorized by an Act of Congress in 1967, HKNC is the only organization of its kind—providing training and resources exclusively to people age 16 and over who have combined vision and hearing loss.
We currently have an exciting career opportunity available to join the HKNC team as a Housekeeping Aide in our Residence building in Sands Point, NY. The Housekeeping Aide is responsible for providing Housekeeping services to consumers, staff and guests of HKNC in the Residence facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Remove soiled linens from beds and transfer to linen room.
- Turn mattresses and remake beds, utilizing mattress covers, sheets, pillowcases and bedspreads.
- Remove debris and maintain cleanliness of bedrooms, bathrooms, second floor corridor bathrooms and first floor offices. (Empty wastebaskets, clean mirrors and polish metal bathroom fixtures.
- Clean bathrooms (scrub basins, toilets, showers and floors). Clean glass shelving and mirrors and polish metal bathroom fixtures.
- Replenish supplies (clean towels, bathmats, soap, toilet paper, etc.).
- Report any damage or condition requiring repair to the Supervisor of Housekeeping, Residence Director and/or Plant Operations.
REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
- Prior Housekeeping and/or waitress experience preferred, including knowledge of proper use and storage of hazardous cleaning and related materials.
