Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$20.000 - $22.314 - $26.777


The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. What You Will Do

Under the direction of the registered nurse or therapist, assists in performing personal care needs and light housekeeping.

Required Qualifications
  • California Home Health Aide (HHA) - CA Department of Public Health -REQUIRED
  • California Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) - CA Department of Public Health -REQUIRED
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED
  • Driver's License - CA Department of Motor Vehicles -REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 Year experience in acute care, home health, or hospice.

Other Qualification Requirements
  • Utilizes reliable transportation and possesses adequate personal insurance coverage. Demonstrates clean driving record in accordance with requirements of the employer DMV pull notice program and Sharp HealthCare Driver Guidelines.

  • Communication
    Actively participates and provides effective ongoing communication with other team members. Accurately identifies patient needs which require or would benefit from utilization of additional home care services and documents.
    Utilizes interdisciplinary team conference time to communicate pertinent patient-related problems. Elicits assistance from peers to problem-solve. Contributes ideas/suggestions to assist peers in managing patient care needs.
  • Department competency
    Meets departmental requirements, including but not limited to:
    Performs routine equipment maintenance according to departmental policy.
    Maintains current CHHA certification.
    Attends a minimum of 12 hours inservice training per year.
    Maintains skills through attendance and participation in department inservices and meetings.
    Current CPR certificate.
    Body mechanics
    Disaster procedures, fire, safety, hazardous materials and infection control.
    Attendance at unit-specific mandatory inservices.
    Mandatory/non-mandatory staff meetings: reads and studies staff meeting minutes.
    Attendance at additional inservices per unit standards.
  • Patient care
    Provides comprehensive personal care and light housekeeping to home care patients under the supervision of an RN, PT, ST or OT. Documentation reflects care given according to the Plan of Care.
    Provides ongoing observation of patient's condition. Identifies and documents response to care, changes in patient's condition such as declining ability to participate in ADL's, deteriorating skin condition, level of consciousness, patient complaints, etc. Promptly reports these changes to primary RN, PT, ST or OT, or supervisor.
    Assists patients with prescribed exercises following instruction from primary therapist. Documentation reflects exercises performed and patient responses.
    Performs simple nursing procedures following instruction by the nurse. Documentation reflects procedure performed and patient's response.
  • Time management

    Manages time, prioritizes work assignment, arrives on time, and completes a typical work assignment within the assigned shift.
    Completes and submits required paperwork including daily notes, route sheets and mileage reports according to departmental time frames.
    Demonstrates initiative by utilizing time between routine work loads to complete the following:
    • Assists co-workers with varying work loads.
    • Complete other assigned work projects.
    • Asks supervisor for additional tasks.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and techniques.
  • Ability to execute Home Health Aide skills safely.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and function in a team environment to enhance patient care.
