LABORATORY LEAD ACCESSIONER JOB DESCRIPTION
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews requisitions received and processed by each specimen processor.
- Checks accuracy of (TRF) Test Requisition forms entered by accessioners.
- Confirms all necessary information is in every requisition.
- Processes insurances.
- Maintains and protects the confidentiality of all patients and client information according to
HIPPA.
- Prioritizes and sorts specimens appropriately for accessioning and processing.
- Performs data entry login of patient demographics, clinical information, specimen source, and test(s) orders from specimen.
- Documents all problem cases appropriately.
- Shreds documents as needed.
- Reviews specimen requisitions against data entry of requisition information, for accuracy, documents errors noted and forwards documentation to supervisor, and corrects errors found.
- Answers departmental phone calls and assists clients as needed.
- Exercises all laboratory safety precautions and adheres to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.
- Participates in all departmental training including safety and HIPPA.
- Participates in staff meetings. Takes active role in problem solving and implementation of creative solutions.
Education and Qualifications:
- Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning LIS and intranet.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
