Brooks will treat more than 60,000 patients through its system of care each year. In addition, Brooks operates the Clinical Research Center, which specializes in research for stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury and more to advance the science of rehabilitation. Brooks also provides many low or no cost community programs and services such as the Brooks Clubhouse, Brooks Aphasia Center and Brooks Adaptive Sports and Recreation to improve the quality of life for people living with physical disabilities. Prepares medical record documents of patients for scanning in various settings. Scans/uploads documents into an electronic system to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Ensures patient name, medical record number, account number, form type and other applicable information is correct. Review records for completion based on applicable regulations (accreditation agencies, CMS, or state). Communicates with providers, physicians, and clinicians to obtain any missing or incomplete documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs a variety of activities involving preparation, scanning and indexing of medical record documents so that scanned images upload to the Electronic Health Record.
  • Reviews EHR for deficiencies and communicates the providers and clinicians when documentation is missing or incomplete. Monitors accordingly.
  • Answers phones and performs follow up calls to providers for unsigned orders and documentation.
  • Must retain excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. 1 to 4 years of experience in health information or related activities involving use of computer and familiarity with health information forms. Formalized medical record technician training, or previous experience in health information management preferred. Associates degree preferred.

Location: Bartram Crossing, 6209 Brooks Bartram Dr Building 100, Jacksonville, FL 32258

Hours: 24 hours per week. Ideally Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and/or flex a day on the weekend if needed.
