Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY: The Group Facilitator is to provide mental health group therapy sessions for adults, adolescents and pediatric populations for all in patient units.
Assumes responsibility of quality educational and group psychotherapy treatment of patients within the program through the supervision and guidance of the Clinical Director. Prepare appropriate CBT and skill based groups according to the needs of the patients. Group facilitator guides and direct patient during group sessions and observe pt. response to education.
Through the use of our EMR system group facilitator must documents group notes, support individualized treatment plans and progress toward treatment plan goals. The Group Facilitator maintains open communication lines with the Director of Clinical services. Work collaboratively with milieu manager regarding all aspects of programming schedules and conduct groups per programming schedule.

Qualifications

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work or Psychology is required.
Experience: Prior experience working with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient setting.
Licensure/Certification: Illinois Clinical Social Work License (LCSW) or Licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) preferred. BLS Provider certification through the American Heart Association and CPI certification required upon completion of orientation. BLS Provider and CPI certifications must remain active throughout employment.
Knowledge: Must have knowledge of group dynamics, group safety and expertise to facilitate groups. Must have experience with CBT, Psychodrama, and skill based/evidenced based group therapy.
Able to work cooperatively with other hospital staff and involved community agencies. Good organization skills, as well as oral and written communication skills.

Line of Promotion: Clinical Program Director
Working Conditions: Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous waste. General hospital environment.
Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Physical agility to manage patients. Push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching and stooping.
