ILP and TLP

The Re*Generation House Transitional Living Program (TLP), which is part of Sasha Bruce Youthwork Inc., is a 24 months communal-style living residential home designed to assist eight (8) homeless young adults between ages 18-24, in acquiring the skills and resources they need to live independently. The Independent Living Program is part of Sasha Bruce Youthwork Inc. is a 24 months Apartment Style living residential program designed to assist twelve (12)homeless young adults between ages 18-24, in acquiring the skills and resources they need to live independently. TLP and ILP provides comprehensive services including life skills, employment, education, housing, counseling, referrals to other community services. Upon completion of the program, each young adult will receive aftercare services to ensure continued independence.

Job Summary:

SBY Occasional Workers are responsible for providing direct care services to both community services and residential clients. This includes monitoring individuals and providing referrals and crisis intervention for ILP and TLP programs as needed. All services are aimed at maximizing the client’s progress toward a supported lifestyle. The Occasional Worker is expected to participate fully in trainings offered by the agency and to integrate this training into their work. The incumbent must be available to work shifts that need coverage. Shift times and work sites may vary, so he/she must be willing to work in ILP and TLP.


Duties and Responsibilities
:

Responsible for reporting, planning and implementation of the weekday activity schedule.

  • Provides crisis intervention and on-site counseling.
  • Provides the Program Manager(s) with timely and accurate documentation of all services provided, including client progress reports and reports of problems that require immediate attention.
  • Maintains familiarity with local services (both within and outside the agency) that might serve as resources and identify those client needs that require outside referrals, including health care, mental health care, educational services/schools, alcohol and drug abuse treatment and education, big siblings/mentors, sex education and AIDS prevention.
  • Participates in weekly staff meetings.
  • Meets for regular supervision with the Program Manager/Clinical Coordinator.
  • Participates in all SBY trainings, as well as in-service and any other training identified by the Program Manager or Clinical Coordinator.
  • Initiates and implements special projects/activities that will benefit our client.
  • Carries out emergency fire evacuation and other emergency procedures.
  • Records all phone calls and visitors in the log.
  • Maintains all necessary records, including legible, comprehensive, and accurate reports of house activities in the house log.
  • Performs house/office coverage, maintain control and continuous supervision of clients, enforce house rules, and monitor house for cleanliness and safety.
  • Makes regular house checks, inspecting inside the building and in the area immediately outside; and check individual rooms when necessary.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

A bachelors’ degree with 3 years of experience in the human service field or a high school diploma with 5 years of experience in the human service field, working with adolescents/young adults.

  • Must learn and apply positive behavior modification techniques, model effective de-escalation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have a flexible work schedule and be open to and available for work at short notice.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively partner with individuals and families in difficult situations to help empower them to take on their challenges successfully.
  • Must possess a strong sense of personal responsibility, be driven, flexible, and able to communicate effectively with diverse or with difficult to engage populations.
  • Strong spoken and written English language skills, including report writing.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and pass and maintain required clearances.
  • Experience working with youth, teens, and families dealing with trauma, crisis, and community stress.
  • Great work ethic, excellent time management, efficiency, problem solving, and customer service skills.
  • Possess good organizational skills, the ability to multitask, maintain confidentiality, and be detailed oriented.
  • Ability to work extra hours, attend meetings/training, when needed.
