Cruz Associates Inc. of Yorktown, VA has open positions for qualified candidates for a Fire Alarm Technician. The job location is at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Indian Head, MD.
Scope of Performance: Qualified Fire Alarm Technician to support maintenance, repair, and installation of explosive and chemical processing equipment. Technician will work in all explosive and chemical processing areas as determined by management or COR. Technician shall be subject to physical examinations and certification requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and provide corrective maintenance to radio decoding terminal equipment employing special purpose digital computer
- Troubleshoot and provide corrective maintenance on antenna systems, remote control systems, power supplies, and various electrical switching devices
- Tests equipment under operating conditions making appropriate adjustments and calibrates other equipment’s as required. Use such equipment as ohm, volt, and amp meters.
- Assembles, repairs, and modifies fire alarm systems for operation of ordnance industrial equipment such as mixers, presses, extruding equipment, stress test equipment and real time x-ray equipment
- Provides inspection, testing, corrective and preventative maintenance of explosion proof and general-purpose fire protection systems for a variety of industrial operating facilities
- Participate on a team to perform annual, semiannual, and quarterly fire alarm system maintenance in and industrial environment. Develop field reports of findings, documenting repair part requirements for purchase. Performs follow up visits to complete repairs and perform validation testing
- Knowledge of facility electrical systems and complex electrical and electronic system and equipment
- Ability to read blueprints and blueprint symbols
Education and Experience – Required: MUST HAVE PRIOR EXPERIENCE IN FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS
- NICET LEVEL II/III
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to pass explosives handler physical and respirator fit test
- Sound technical and computer skills
- Sufficient knowledge of mathematics
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 75 lbs.)
