SALARY:
The salary range for this position is $62,688.32 to $99,584.45 for Schedule A, and $62,688.32 to $94,605.20 for Schedule B. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater. Judiciary employees hired prior to June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule A. Newly hired individuals, and Judiciary employees hired on or after June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule B.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Are you a true professional interested in serving the public by upholding the Judiciary’s core values of Independence, Integrity, Fairness and Quality Service? The Bergen Vicinage is seeking a meticulous, well organized, finance professional with excellent accounting, analytical, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills to join the Finance Division team. We are located in the heart of the bustling Hackensack redevelopment district, close to transit options, and provide free parking.

We are looking for candidates with excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong knowledge of internal controls, independent critical thinking skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines. The selected candidate will be responsible to perform various system reconciliations, extracting data from various legacy and web-based systems and utilizing excel to analyze that data and prepare financial spreadsheets. They will review financial reports in our Guardianship Monitoring Program (GMP), which provides oversight of the reporting requirements for court appointed guardians of incapacitated adults.


REMOTE WORK
: The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.

Example of Duties

Under the general direction of the Court Executive 2B, Finance Division Manager or designee, the selected candidate will perform various professional administrative and financial functions including but not limited to:


  • Navigate various legacy and proprietary technology systems to extract needed data.
  • Prepare technical, statistical, financial, review or evaluation reports.
  • Interpret accounting, financial, or statistical data.
  • Perform financial and internal control audits.
  • Conduct financial audits for accuracy, compliance or legitimacy following standards to maintain security or confidentiality.
  • Analyze cases in accordance with existing laws, regulations, or professional practices.
  • Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Review activities for adherence to applicable procedures, administrative directives, and laws/regulations.
  • Recommend improvements in operating procedures, programs, standards, work processes, or administrative practices.
  • Participate fully in team or work unit meetings and special projects.
  • Provide quality customer service to court users and/or internal customers.
  • Function as a liaison and establish positive working relationships with other divisions, vicinages, central office, and external stakeholders.
  • Treat all personnel, clients and the public with dignity and respect.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 21 credit hours in accounting, business administration, economics, public administration and/or finance. Twelve of these credit hours must be in accounting and three years of professional accounting, finance, auditing and/or budgeting experience.

Substitution: Applicants who do not possess the required education, but do possess the 21 accounting, business administration, economics, public administration, and/or finance credit hours, including 12 accounting credit hours, may substitute additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits. A master's degree in business or public administration, economics, accounting or finance may be substituted for one year of general experience -OR- a CPA designation may be substituted for one year of general experience as indicated above.

Supplemental Information

Driver's License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.

Residency Law: Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), also known as the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.
