Finance Administrator Job at Bay Area Phlebotomy and Laboratory Services

Position Summary:

Responsible for providing clerical assistance to the finance team and maintaining

accurate financial records and medical coding. Duties would include, preparing checks for deposit,

recording daily cash sales, delivering deposits to the bank, organization of financial

records, processing incoming mail, and other requested tasks. All duties must be

performed with integrity and discretion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and abstract patient medical records. Report diagnoses, treatments, as well as surgical and non-surgical procedures for insurance.
  • Ensure all services documented in the patient’s medical record are coded with the appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS diagnosis and procedure codes.
  • Ensure code assignment is supported by provider documentation.
  • Query physician when documentation is inadequate, ambiguous or conflicting.
  • Conduct reviews of medical records to ensure compliance with coding and documentation guidelines and governmental requirements.
  • Demonstrate service excellence, integrity, and initiative.
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality of patient and clients, abiding by HIPAA.
  • Abide by the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association, and adhere to official coding guidelines.
  • Maintain production and quality standards as set forth by Bay Area PLS
  • Send Customer invoices and statements
  • Collect customer payments and apply them to the intended invoices
  • Process invoices / AP
  • Auditing and maintaining financial records
  • Investigate and resolve any transaction discrepancies
  • Ability to problem solve software and tech issues
  • Ensure compliance with current contracts
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive information

Qualifications:

Experience as an office or administrative assistant

Familiarity with general accounting principles

Experience in data collection, entry, and reporting with great attention to detail and confidentiality

Solid knowledge of compliance with relevant legal requirements, policies, and regulations.

Strong computer skills, with working knowledge of relevant software (e.g. Google suite, MS Excel, QuickBooks Online, etc.)

Exquisite math and numerical skills

Outstanding organizational and time management skills

Excellent communication abilities with an aptitude in problem-solving

High school diploma or equivalent; BSc/BA in accounting/business administration is a plus

A background check may be required

Hours and days may vary depending on operational needs

Standing or sitting for long periods of time may be necessary.
