Farm Attendant Job at OC Fair & Event Center
Position Title: Farm Attendant
Pay Range : $17.00 per hour
Position Purpose:
Performs heavy manual labor to care for animals and crops at Centennial Farm. This is a seasonal position not to exceed 119 days that will be scheduled
full-time hours.
Schedule: Monday-Friday 6:30 am to 3:00 pm
Essential Functions:
- Performs heavy manual labor in the livestock area, including daily cleaning to maintain the appearance of the area.
- Feeds livestock on a daily basis.
- Assists in garden maintenance including planting, weeding, and harvesting.
- Maintains and repairs various structures and exhibits in the Centennial Farm area.
- May operate equipment including forklifts, manlifts, tractors, carts and hand tools.
- Performs a variety of janitorial duties to maintain cleanliness of the Centennial Farm area.

Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must possess a valid California driver’s license.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to work effectively with all types of people in a fast-paced environment necessary.
- Must be available to work all 23 days of the annual OC Fair.
- Ability to work outside the normal business day/week as demanded by events and programs.
Preferences:
- Previous experience working with livestock animals and crops desired.
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment such as forklift, manlift, tractor and carts, as well as various hand tools in a safe and proper manner necessary.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear. Extended periods of standing and walking involved. The employee is required to use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally lift and/or move moderate to heavy objects up to 50 lbs, which requires frequent and proper bending.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
Will work in a fast-paced, environment in an outdoor, and sometimes indoor, environment during all types of weather. The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud, particularly when working outdoors or in an exhibit building.
