Family and Children Services Case Manager Job at Glide Foundation
The Family and Children Services (FCS) Case Manager provides management and violence intervention services to male offenders referred from Family and Children’s Services. The FCS Case Manager will provide direct services and support advocacy aimed at promoting overall wellness and quality of life with a focus on creating long-term behavioral change.
The FCS Case Manager will conduct an initial intake assessment, facilitate two Batterer’s Intervention Program (BIP) groups a week, complete reports, case management services, and attend case conference meetings. This individual will support offenders in examining the social conditioning of violence, including gender-based theory. The emotional and economic consequences of violence in their lives, relationships, families, and communities; and the opportunities to shift patterns of violence, harm, and life chaos through self-awareness, empathy, and behavioral changes. The FCS Case Manager will also assist offenders in learning healthy parenting skills. This person will work collaboratively with GLIDE’s Violence Intervention Programs Manager, Clinical Director, FCS, and other external consultants to implement services for male offenders. Regular and predictable attendance is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties can be assigned, and the duties and responsibilities of the job are subject to change without notice.
- Provide an initial assessment for all offenders referred from Family and Children’s Services.
- Facilitate two batterer’s intervention groups for male offenders, with attention to the fidelity of the provided curriculum (Duluth model).
- Provide case management services and one-on-one counseling as needed.
- Adhere to all laws and requirements regarding confidentiality, professional ethnic and boundaries. Understand and follow basic ethics, values, and principles of case management regulatory practices. Adhere to all laws and requirements regarding HIPPA, child protective services, contractual agreements, etc.
- Ensure participants in case management have up-to-date case notes that are reviewed monthly by the VIP Program Manager.
- Document participant contacts in case management notes within the timeframe established. Maintain accurate, current data, records, and files.
- Work closely with VIP Program Manager, FCS, and other external stakeholders to produce accurate and timely reports.
- Develop relationships of trust with clients to provide motivational counseling and support focused on domestic violence prevention and intervention.
- Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: collaborating with FCS, meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, attending and actively participating in staff, individual meetings, supervision, case conferences, client conferences, and in-service training.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated knowledge of case management assessment, intervention strategies, counseling, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care.
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of achieving change in individuals and groups, and an ability to demonstrate successful application.
- Ability to plan, prioritize and organize tasks, and meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail, particularly in documentation in case files and updating database.
- Able to handle difficult situations (e.g. angry, loud, and/or verbally abusive clients). Must demonstrate the ability to de-escalate oneself and defuse potentially volatile situations with patience and tact.
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Exercises sound judgment in interactions with others.
- Works well under pressure and manages stress effectively.
- Demonstrates cultural competency. Has the ability to work effectively across cultures. Demonstrates a commitment to learning, communicating, and working respectfully with people different from themselves.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- BA degree and a minimum of two years with case management experience working or an equivalent of education and experience.
- Experience working with male violent offenders is helpful.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Must have/obtain CA Domestic Violence certification.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
- Exceptionally strong communication skills.
- Proficiency in spelling, grammar, and writing needed to draft detailed instructions, case care plans, and other required documentation.
- *MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Basic mathematical skills.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Proficient in the use of a computer, specifically MS Office Suite and Internet research.
- Basic data entry skills helpful.
- Knowledge of Salesforce is helpful.
