Purpose Statement

Under limited supervision, the individual sets up and operates extrusion line and tapping machine, adjusting the line speed and controlling heat profiles.

Essential Functions

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • Sets up and operates sheet extruder equipment.
• Adjusts and calibrates the blender to ensure proper blend of materials.
• Changes dies, screws, rolls and dialups on the extruder.
• Sets up and operates extruding equipment, manufacturing extruded plastic sheets, as required.
• Brings granulated material to the dryer hopper, and feeds the hopper in an efficient
• manner.
• Ensures a steady supply of plastic is delivered from the dryer hopper to the extruder hopper by monitoring the flow of plastic as required.
• Takes instrument readings on extruder and adjusts as required.
• Takes stacked sheets from the end of the extruder and heat seals the stack in a plastic shrink wrap. Covers the stack with cardboard and bands stack.
• Operates other Secondary Equipment as needed (Off-Line Laminator, Screen-Print Operator)
• Records material used during the shift by the job and provides such information to the Material Handler for entry into the computer.
• Helps unload scrap from semi-trailers by operating a forklift as required.
• Secures equipment and plant facilities at the end of the shift.
• Maintains an effective working relationship with all department employees.
• Always maintains a neat and orderly work area.
• Uses all required safety supplies and procedures at all items.
• May perform similar or related duties as required.

Qualifications – Education & Experience

• High School Graduate /GED or equivalent demonstrated competency through work experience.
• 2 or more years of experience in production environment
• Plastics manufacturing experience preferred
• English language skills at the 6th grade level or above
