Epic Business Intelligence Developer (Remote Eligible)
Position Summary:
The Epic Business Intelligence Developer (BID) is responsible for all stages of the business intelligence cycle: understanding business objective, collecting business requirements and translating them into data requirements, designing and developing reports or dashboards (code and visualization), scheduling and deployment of business intelligence components in accordance with supplied standards and best practices, and completing accurate and timely documentation. Collaborates with business and technology departments to understand system data and its use, data analysis and validation, and providing support around the data and how it is integrated. Monitors production systems for issues and resolves issues or elevate them for resolution when necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Develops logical modeling and presentation solutions to implement requirements using best practices within the business intelligence environments
- Develops, maintains, reviews and explain data models
- Uses various software applications such as desktop tools, spreadsheets, report writing software, statistical software, graphical presentation tools, and Business Intelligence applications to assemble, manipulate and/or format data
- Designs, develops and troubleshoots extract packages that implement complex programming processes
- Works with Application Analysts to test and validate reports after installation and implementation of system patches, service utilities and version upgrades as assigned
- Maintains data integrity and security for assigned applications and systems
- Maintains and develops documentation to identify and define processes or procedures.
- Manages multiple tasks simultaneously and react to problems quickly
- Translates concepts and directions into practical solutions
- Partners with quality, operational, financial and business leaders on report design and optimization to meet quality, safety, financial and efficiency needs
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
- Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent education/experience required
- Minimum 5 years of analytics experience required, with 3 years of SQL report writing required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare required
- Epic Clarity certification/accreditation required or is willing to obtain within 90 days of hireCertification to be initiated as directed and completed within 3 months of hire; employee must remain current in certification
- Other required system application training/certifications to complete assigned work as necessary
- Experience with relational database structures, multi-dimensional database, and data warehouse design architecture required
- Data Visualization experience using a variety of BI tools preferred (Power BI, SSRS, Tableau, Crystal Reports, etc.)
- Experience in leading technical work across multiple technology teams preferred
- Participates in after hours on-call, on-call rotation and service recovery efforts as required
- Comprehensive understanding of clinical or business principles to evaluate information system and healthcare regulatory needs
- Demonstrated knowledge in enterprise-wide analytics architecture including data integration, data modeling, and master data management
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to independent manage customer expectations
- Skilled at tracking tasks, following processes, documenting progress, defining next steps, identifying owners, and holding people accountable
