EHSS Technicians are responsible for maintaining safe and secure workplace by reviewing employee compliance with BioSpectra EHSS programs, policies, and procedures, auditing BioSpectra facilities for compliance with Regulations, Policies, and Best Practices, Providing incident response support, verifying the security of BioSpectra facilities, processing Hazardous Waste, inspecting PPE & Safety equipment for operational readiness, participating in employee engagement programs, and taking action to fix non-conformances. Additionally, they secure and safeguard the facility and surrounding areas by observing and communicating suspicious activity, assisting with investigations, maintaining paperwork, logs and other required documentation, and appropriately executing emergency response procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greets visitors and registers them at gate per SOP. Contacts proper personnel to escort them inside the facility.
  • Greets vendors and truckers, verifies that the vehicle/ cargo in fact belongs to BioSpectra opens gate to allow entrance and exit, and controls traffic to and from building grounds.
  • Verifies shipments/ trucks leaving the site are authorized to do so and are secured.
  • Maintains and performs “EHSS Inspection Checklist” daily per SOP.
  • Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property, building, and door access points.
  • Maintain daily log of employees on/off property.
  • Maintain safe employee entrance & exit walkways; perform removal of debris and snow as needed.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Answer telephone and transfer calls accordingly.
  • Prevents losses and damage by reporting trespassers to the proper personnel.
  • Completes accident reports when applicable.
  • Assist with development and implementation of EHSS policies
  • Completes accident reports when applicable.
  • Assists Human Resources with termination procedure
  • Maintain/Compile/Issue hard keys
  • Assist Operations in door numbering and door/zone mapping
  • Monitor Alarm and Camera Systems. Make notifications when needed.
  • Inspect EHSS Equipment to ensure functionality and readiness in the event it is needed. Examples include: Eye Wash, Safety Showers, Fire Extinguishers, Spill Kits, PPE Inventories, etc. Generate inspection report and make notifications required to have repairs made.
  • Process and inventory Non-Hazardous, Hazardous, Non-Regulated, and other wastes so that they are ready for shipment.
  • Participate in Safety Committee meetings and activities.
  • Complete Audits to ensure compliance. Report findings to manager.
  • Develop/Write SOP’s if necessary
  • Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate

Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience in law enforcement, Security, EHS, or other closely related field
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Good working knowledge of security operations, EHS practices in a business and manufacturing environment as well as enforcement procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with management, to understand and follow standard operating procedures, to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance, to write and investigate required reports; to make independent and good judgment decisions within proper policy and procedures.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Ability to learn cGMP, QA program and Safety programs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Stand, Walk, or Sit for extended periods
  • Climb, crawl, bend, twist, carry, reach, push, pull, and lift throughout shift
  • Work around chemicals and/or hazardous materials

Work Hours:

  • Non-Exempt Position
  • 12 Hour Shifts, 6:00am to 6:30pm
  • Ability and willingness to work from all BioSpectra facilities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $21.00 per hour
