Progeny Systems is seeking a highly motivated Firmware Developer to work out of its Manassas, VA offices. Progeny is adapting its ATLAS program prototype system architecture to a production form factor. This includes both technology refresh and risk reduction through early demonstrations of capability.

FPGA development is needed to port or implement IP for early program risk reduction activities demonstrating high speed network streaming, ADC interfacing and control, and DSP algorithms. Target technologies are Xilinx UltraScale+ FPGAs, JESD204(B|C), and 100 Gigabit Ethernet, including Remote DMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE).

Developer will work closely with embedded software developers and application software developers under direction of Senior Technical Staff to accomplish risk reduction activities. Long term development follows to build out, maintain and enhance the Production technology baseline.

Duties and Responsibilities

• establish and maintain the development/toolchain environment

• develop familiarity with prototype system VHDL IP

• formulate designs to meet risk reduction objectives and requirements

• port or adapt existing VHDL IP or develop new VHDL IP to complete risk reduction objectives

• work closely with Senior Staff for technical oversight and direction

• work closely with software development teams to reduce integration risks and support overall program objectives

• implement, test and demonstrate capabilities on early prototype and final production hardware

• follow best practices for VHDL development and integration

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated experience with the FPGA VHDL development toolchain (Xilinx Vivado) including Coding, Simulation, Fixed Point Processing, Test Fixtures, Timing Closure, Synthesis, Place and Route including constraints, and JTAG programming and debug including ChipScope. Real time testing on desktop, benchtop and laboratory hardware.

Familiarity with Xilinx FPGAs, including use of DSP slices. Experience with Virtex FPGAs required. Experience with UltraScale+ generation FPGA a plus.

Familiarity with MATLAB and MathWorks Simulink / HDL Coder a plus

Education/Experience

0-5 years of experience in high speed VHDL applications

BSEE, CS, or equivalent technical degree
