Kiawah River is seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator to manage events and programming for residents, guests, and prospects. The role responsibilities are focused on day-today engagement with community residents and guests through events, communications, and overall community experience. This role reports to the Community Operations Director and works closely with other departments to ensure that programming and coordination efforts are aligned with the community’s communication plan and overall operations plan while also coming up with new event ideas and adapting programming to a rapidly growing community.
Kiawah River is a fairly new waterfront community, located on Johns Island, that embraces the Lowcountry sea islands life and is centered on outdoor pursuits with 20 miles of shoreline and 2,000 acres of picturesque land, including multiple working farms, a goat dairy and a Community Support Agriculture (CSA) program. The community vision combines residential, retail and hospitality offerings along with 1,000+ homesites, hotel, retail, event hall, and other amenities. We are located right off of Betsy Kerrison Parkway, near the River Road intersection and 2.5 miles before you reach the Kiawah-Seabrook roundabout.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and execute community public and private events spanning from large 1,000+ guest public events to smaller community gatherings. Events include: real estate home showcase and tour, grand openings of new amenities, ground breakings of new real estate projects, food and wine festivals, car exhibitions, farm harvests, and picnics. Collaborate on annual event plan, communication strategy for events, and larger and/or sales-marketing events
- Manage private event and wedding bookings (tours; contracts; booking process; timeline of setup, execution, and breakdown; ensure private events are being executed within guidelines set by contracts and are minimally disruptive to residents, sales office and community operations)
- Create events and activities to activate the various spaces and resources within the community to engage residents and guests
- Budget events, manage invoices to and from vendors, use POS and reservations billing systems appropriately to track progress and meet goals
- Provide detailed information in a timely manner for marketing/communications (e-blasts, website/app, etc.)
- Collaborates with Community and Hotel team members on reservation systems and other technology and systems utilized to plan and execute events
- Prepare for Auberge (Hotel and Event Hall scheduled for summer/fall 2024) onboarding and maintain collaboration with their operations team to promote a symbiotic relationship between the community and the hotel, specifically events
- Assist with onboarding and launch of event hall and the transition of wedding bookings from Kiawah River venues to the event hall.
- Create and present annual event plan and budget with ideas for new events in correlation with the evolving and rapidly-growing community and that are on-brand with the KR core pillars (nature & wildlife, wellness, arts, culinary/social)
- Maintain timely correspondence with residents, guests, third-party requests, specifically as it relates to community programming and events.
- Collect and log feedback that will better inform community operations plan and overall community experience
- Assist with onboarding of new property owners, renters, and guests (e.g. information on resources and activities available to them as a KR resident or guest, ways they can better engage with the community, etc.)
- Assist with maintaining up-to-date resident database, collateral, and community information, whether printed, digital, or verbal

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Experience in hospitality, food and beverage, event, or related field.
- College degree preferred
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word
- Comfortable with technology and learning new programs utilized for community communications, reservations systems, etc.
- Available to work occasional weekends and holidays (for events)
PHYSICAL & MENTAL ABILITIES
Job entails varying physical tasks in the setup and breakdown involved in daily operations, events, etc. Candidates should be comfortable with:
- Ability to lift at 25 – 50 pounds, with assistance when necessary
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee may be required to walk or stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to bend, climb, balance, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl without hindrance
- While performing this job, employee will be exposed to sunlight, heat, wet and/or humid conditions
- Maintains a professional appearance appropriate to position and as per company policy
- Ability to climb on step stool or ladder in order to complete elements of the job or facilitate maintenance issues
