GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Energy Storage Analytics Associate is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining applications for simulation and real-time operations of energy storage systems, conforming with company strategy, market rules, contract provisions, and performance requirements. The person in this role will assess the revenue potential of storage projects and ensure optimal market participation. This position will be on a hybrid work schedule, working three days in the office and two days at home.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Support the development of optimization models, strategies, and applications for energy storage market participation, under market rules, and contractual and technical constraints.
• Support the development of forecasting models for nodal energy and ancillary services prices, to be used in the simulation/real-time operation of energy storage systems.
• Collaborate in the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of applications capable of dispatching energy storage systems, collecting real-time data, and producing performance reports, with high levels of automation.
• Estimate revenue projections of energy storage projects of all types under consideration.
• Collaborate with Market Operations/GEM in energy sales optimization efforts, related to energy storage systems.
• Work as part of a team, participating in special projects/duties as assigned by the team leader.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master or doctorate degree in Economics, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Electrical Engineering or related fields
• 2 + years of experience in the renewables sector is preferred
• Proficient knowledge of Python, Matlab, SQL, Azure, AWS, PowerBI and Microsoft Office software.
• Experience with code development and maintenance
• Preferred: Proficient knowledge of Linear Programming and Mixed-Integer Programming and Algebraic Modeling Languages such as AIMMS, GAMS, or Pyomo
• Preferred: Experience with optimization models, value engineering, cost benefit analysis, or similar
• Preferred: Ability to speak Spanish or Portuguese.
• Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products preferred.
• Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise.
