EMI/EMC Test Technician Job at Tesla
Description
Regulatory product compliance is a critical business function and a rapidly expanding sector. The role facilitates global market access by leveraging product and process legislation. Regulatory complexity is increasing and continuously evolving with many local, national and international codes, standards and regulations.
The Tesla Compliance team is looking for a Compliance Test Engineering Technician to validate and homologate renewable energy and off-board charging products. These products incorporate solar, storage, energy management and charging technologies meeting global standards such as UL, EN and CSA. In this role, you’ll work with the lead EMC engineer and nationally recognized testing laboratories (NRTL) to ensure subassemblies and products comply with both internal and regulatory requirements. You’ll be responsible from test plan development through to test execution, and report generation and data submission.
Responsibilities
Test plan generation
Test setup and execution
Debug / RCA non-conformities
Test data analysis and report generation/review
Plan, Schedule and Manage NRTLs for achieving product compliance
Project management
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve product compliance
Global equipment certifications and registrations
Requirements
Minimum Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Experience in an EMC testing environment
Strong understanding of EMC and wireless communication test standards and requirements
Compliance certification experience to: EN 61000-3 & -4 series, EN 61000-6-x, CISPR 11,
32 and 35, FCC parts 15, 22, 24 and 27, EN 301 908, EN 301 511, EN 300 440, EN 301
893, EN 300 328, ICES 003, and EN 301 489, and Functional safety EMI standards
Experience with a multitude of laboratory equipment and data acquisition tools
Experience taking a product through a certification process
Strong interpersonal and communications skills
Attention to detail and ability to navigate/interpret ambiguity of various test standards
Desired
Minimum 2+ years in EMC test position
Experienced in power electronics test/validation
Experience with EMC automation software’s like EMC32, TILE, Nexio or similar.
Experience in coding (Python) to support test automation
Highly experienced in global EMC Codes, Standards and Regulations
Proven track record in renewable product certifications
