Under general supervision, and in the context of emergency services, employee is responsible for providing critical support and interventions to effectively address behavioral health, intellectual disabilities and substance use emergencies challenging individuals and families in our community. Interventions include crisis intervention, emergency evaluations/ preadmission screenings, crisis stabilization, and case management services to those individuals at risk of hospitalization. Employee must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations. Employee provides after-hours crisis intervention services on a scheduled basis.
Employee must exercise considerable initiative and judgment in the effective and efficient administration of departmental programs. Employee must also exercise tact and courtesy in contact with staff, persons served, families, public, and service provides.
Educational attainment of a Master’s or Doctoral degree with an associated professional license or educational attainment that would be required for the following: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP) Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist MD/DO, Bachelors Prepared Registered Nurse (BSN) with five years of experience; and be certified by DBHDS as a Certified Preadmission Screening Clinician (as defined by the Code of Virginia 37.2.809). Minimum of two years supervised experience in providing mental health services.
Must posses a valid Virginia Drivers License and good driving record. Must obtain a satisfactory TB test or screening at employment and annually as required by licensing authority. Required to pass drug screening.
PC skills required with aptitude to learn and use new computer software; familiarity with Microsoft Office preferred. Must possess a valid Virginia Driver’s License with acceptable driving record. Must obtain a TB test with satisfactory results within 30 days of employment. Must complete current Agency behavior management training (MANDT, TOVA, NVCI) within first year of employment. Must maintain all additional trainings and credentials as required by regulatory, licensing, and payer entities. CPR/First Aid certification is recommended but not required.
