Educational Tutor (Contract Position) - Weymouth/Randolph/Quincy Job at South Shore Stars
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Licensed General Educators and Special Educators. Certification in Orton Gillingham or Wilson Reading a plus!
$55.00 an hour, part-time, contract position, four hours per week (M-Th)
RESPONSIBILITIES
Tutors will facilitate one-on-one or small group lessons that cater to the needs and goals of students enrolled in South Shore Stars student programming. Responsibilities may include:
- Reviewing classroom or curricula topics and assignments
- Assisting students with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, research, and other academic tasks
- Working with students to help them understand key concepts, especially those learned in the classroom
- Teaching skills to improve academic performance, including study strategies, note-taking skills, executive functioning skills, and approaches to answering test questions
- Demonstrating academic best practices for specific subjects and assignments, including research, and writing tactics
- Developing and distributing learning materials to support academic growth
- Conducting practice activities to track progress, identify areas of improvement and help set goals for exam preparation
- Collaborate with South Shore Stars’ Staff including Family Support Clinician to support academic and social and emotional learning needs of students
- Providing students positive and constructive feedback
- Offering feedback on progress to students’ parents/guardians and South Shore Stars’ staff where appropriate
- Building meaningful connections with students from diverse backgrounds
- Instructing student in person
- Supporting student needs through active listening techniques and questioning strategies
- Recognizing different learning styles and student preferences
- Designing differentiated learning goals
- Stay current with school curriculum
- Addressing learning needs from an asset-based mindset
