Dog Bather Job at Applewood Pet Resort
We are looking for a dog bather to join our Kennel Staff Bathing Team. This position's main responsibility is making sure the dogs are clean, dried, and ready to go home by the scheduled time. We are looking for candidates that have some prior experience but are willing to be trained to our standards and can work 5 days a week, including Saturday and Sunday (overtime may be available). Starting pay is $15/hour with a $1,000 bonus awarded to new hires after 3 months.
Daily Responsibilities Include:
- Bath, blow dry and brush dogs of all breeds & sizes
- Clip & Dremel nails, express anal glands, clean ears, brush teeth
- Use the correct shampoo according to breed or as specified by the owner
- Assist in restraining animals as needed
- Maintain a clean and safe environment
- Ensure the bathing room is clean at the end of the day
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- Able to interact with dogs in a calm, non-threatening manner
- Show a basic understanding of dog body language
- Have some prior dog bathing experience
- Must be willing to train according to resort specifications
- Work Saturdays and Sundays
- Able to lift 60lbs
Work Environment:
- Given the nature of this job, the dog bathers work in the bathing room and are often exposed to humid (wet and hot) conditions as well as loud noises (dogs barking, multiple blow dryers, etc.).
Physical Requirements:
- Able to handle dogs of all sizes safely and comfortably
- Able to stand for long periods of time
- Able to bend, crouch, stoop and use both hands to properly move, lift, and secure dogs of all sizes
- Able to lift and move up to 60lbs
