Charlotte Behavioral Health Care’s (CBHC) is our area’s largest not-for-profit provider of community- based behavioral health care, offering a full range of mental health and substance use services in Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Englewood, North Port, Sarasota, and DeSoto and Lee Counties. Position Summary
CBHC has a unique opportunity for a full-time Director of Crisis Services. This position provides program development and oversight of day-to-day administration at the Central Receiving Facility (CRF) and Recovery Center (RC).
The CRF provides assessment and treatment services 24/7. The CRF is a 30-bed inpatient facility with separate adult and children's units designed to serve those who are experiencing an acute mental health or substance use crisis and in immediate need of crisis and stabilization service, voluntarily or involuntarily. The treatment team provides individualized, structured treatment plans and therapeutic activities to individuals. Once stabilized, the team works to connect the individual and family to follow-up services.
The RC is a 15-bed, 28-day residential substance use treatment program for adults. The RC employs Recovery Specialists and clinicians to provide intensive, structured treatment to persons that have serious, chronic substance use disorder(s) (SUD). By providing a safe, substance-free environment, patients have the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary to live a substance-free lifestyle. Therapeutic services include individual, group, and family/significant other counseling; medication management, psychoeducation; overdose prevention and safety planning; relapse prevention; and life skills training.
The Director of Crisis Services’ functions include, but are not limited to:
- Provide program development and oversight of day-to-day administration of the CRF and RC.
- Oversees all requirements, staff, and utilization management for both inpatient programs.
- Develops, manages, and maintains all phases of Crisis Services and ensures that programs meet internal and external audit standards.
- Supervises multidisciplinary team including Psychiatrist, APRN, master’s level, bachelor’s level, non-degreed, nursing, administrative, interns and licensed staff.
- Collaborates with staff, management, and internal/external stakeholders using a team approach to improve quality of service delivery.
- Collaborates with leadership to ensure the standards of productivity and agency financial objectives are met.
- Handles patient grievances, as needed.
- Implements strategies and initiatives to improve patient access to care and quality of care within the inpatient departments.
- Position requires on-call responsibilities.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors or Master’s degree(s) from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Human Services or related field.
- Minimum five (5) years' experience working in a behavioral health crisis/inpatient setting.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in management of personnel, program planning and development, budgeting/fiscal management and community liaison work.
- Knowledge of the Florida Baker Act and Marchman Act laws preferred.
- Knowledge of rules and regulations, including Florida’s Mental Health Act pertaining to the care and treatment of persons with behavioral health or phase of life problems.
- Must maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct, while adhering to agency policies and procedures
- Ability to pass Level II Background clearance, drug test (CBHC is a drug free workplace)
- Computer proficiency.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment.
- Valid FL driver’s license, insurance, and safe driving record
- Dependable transportation (registered, safe operating conditions, etc.)
