Director of Business Services - District

DPI licensure: Valid Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction administrative certification preferred (#5008); Master degree from an accredited university, and administrative experience preferred. Experience as a school district Director of Business Services or experience serving in similar roles for municipalities or other governmental entities is highly desirable.

Terms of Contract: 12-month contract with four (4) weeks vacation

Compensation: $115,000 - $135,000

Supervisory Responsibilities: 3 support staff, District Safety and Facilities Officer

Beaver Dam Unified School District's Director of Business Services will direct the district’s finances, overseeing a $43,000,000 budget, including contracted services

for food service and transportation. The Director of Business Services is supported by and will supervise three full time business support staff professionals (accounts

payable, payroll, and accounting) as well as the District Safety and Facilities Officer who oversees the positions within the custodial/maintenance department. Beaver

Dam is seeking a Director of Business Services who is grounded in the principles listed below.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the Chief Financial Officer, managing all the financial aspects of the district, ensuring the District meets all federal, state, and local requirements;
  • Advise the Superintendent and Board of Education on financial matters of the district;
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the district’s strategic plan;
  • Accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, insurances, accounts payable;
  • Budget preparation;
  • Supervise RFPs and bids;
  • Maintain accurate and timely financial records including but not limited to all state and federal reporting as required by law;
  • Oversee, manage, and monitor the district’s contracted services for food service and transportation.
  • Review accident summary reports and investigate when appropriate;
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of district property, buildings, and grounds (along with District Safety and Facilities Officer);
  • Attend all board meetings as they relate to the district finances;
  • Serve as a negotiator for the Board of Education Negotiations Committee;
  • Oversee the accounting of all grants;
  • Oversee employee benefits including retirement and health insurance;
  • Oversee Workers’ Compensation;
  • Be responsible for internal and external audits;
  • All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
