Position Overview
Director, Organization Design will act in an internal consulting capacity to Business Leaders, HR Business Partners and Peer Centers of Expertise on Organization Design and related organizational effectiveness topics.
The Organization Design Director will focus on establishing frameworks, methodologies, and tools for measuring organizational health and advising business leaders on improvement opportunities. The focus will be to enable Autodesk to develop insights that leverage both context and data that are informative for HR Business partners and Business Leaders in their efforts to ensure organizations maximize their effectiveness.
This individual will be expected to partner closely with other Centers of Expertise within the People and Places organization as well as cross-functional business teams to deliver high quality support to the business. This includes partnering with practitioners in areas like People Insights, Mergers & Acquisitions, Talent Management, Total Rewards, Culture and Diversity, and Talent Acquisition.
This is a newly created position and a great opportunity to build out a new discipline area for the company, demonstrate leadership, gain exposure to and have impact on multiple parts of the organization. This role will be an integral part of Autodesk's growth trajectory by driving data-driven decision-making across the business.
Responsibilities
  • Act as a deep internal expert and advisor on Organization Design frameworks, methodologies, and metrics
  • Develop Organization Design frameworks, including guidelines and playbooks that can be leveraged for advising leaders in support of business objectives
  • Create a dynamic view into “organizational health” [In partnership with our People Insights team] to enable business leaders and HR Business Partners
  • Define service delivery model for Organization Design work
  • Establish benchmarking discipline to help inform org design decisions
  • Build capability across Business Leaders and HR Business Partners in organization design principles and practices
  • Provide advisory support to People and Places (PPL) Mergers & Acquisitions Team and HRBPs on new transactions as they determine relevant Organizational Design in support of deal objectives
  • Provide bespoke advisory services for business leaders and HR Business Partners as they seek to understand and navigate Organization Design challenges including current state assessments, organizational health analysis, reporting and qualitative assessment strategies to provide input into organizational design efforts
  • Work with relevant external consultants to scope and manage relevant engagements relating to organizational design as required
  • Establish strong working relationships with stakeholders to enable continuous process improvement
  • Work closely with Org Transformation Consultants who will be partnering with business leaders and HRBPs on large scale organizational shifts, of which Org Design may be a component
  • As needed provide input into job design and level decisions as part of a collaborative cross functional team
  • Effectively engage and partner with other Centers of Expertise like Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Culture and Diversity to ensure a connected one-PPL solution for the business
Minimum Qualifications
  • 8-10 Years work experience in Organization Design, Sr. HR Business Partner or adjacent work
  • Demonstrated depth of expertise in topics of strategy, organization design, and organization structures of the future
  • Data driven decision maker with evidence of roles that required analytical thinking to drive results
  • Comfort and confidence working across multiple systems and tools to drive results
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with proven ability to communicate with all levels of an organization
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects in parallel with high levels of quality and impact
  • Demonstrated global program/management capability
  • BA/BS in relevant field (Industrial/Org Psych, Business / Strategy)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with a human-centered approach
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Services / Consulting experience
  • Master’s degree in relevant field a plus, but not a must have (Industrial/Org Psych, Business / Strategy)
  • Experience working with or for global organization

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $157,000 and $253,990. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
