Head Medical Assistant for Boutique Dermatology Office - 4 days per week

Zand Dermatology is a boutique practice in southern Marin that specializes in holistic dermatology, wellness, skin cancer, and cosmetic enhancements with a natural aesthetic. Our Physician:

Dr. Sarv Zand is a vibrant and engaging female board-certified dermatologist who loves to mentor and teach. She is warm and approachable, offering constructive feedback regularly in a supportive manner. Dr. Zand's educational background includes a dual M.D. from Harvard Medical School and MIT, and a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins. She was Chief Resident of Dermatology at UC Davis, where she was responsible for the educational training and board preparation for all junior residents. Our Physician Associate:

Our wonderful PA Lexi graduated from USC Keck School of Medicine where she earned her Masters in Physician Associate Practice. Lexi specializes in medical and cosmetic dermatology, including skin cancer screenings, acne, eczema and rashes. Born and raised in Marin, Lexi is thrilled to serve the community she grew up in and cherishes. When she is not working, Lexi loves spending time with her family and friends, hiking with her labrador Bella, biking, and traveling.

Our Location:

Stunning office with sunny, expansive water views! Located on a public shore with beautiful walking paths. In Mill Valley, Marin County, adjacent to 101 freeway, 10 minute drive from San Francisco, 40 minutes from Berkeley. Free parking.

Your Schedule:

• Four 10-hour days (alternate workweek)
• Monday - Wednesday and Fridays from about 9am-7pm (depending on patient needs)
• Starts October 2022

Medical Assistant Responsibilities:

• Medical -- greet patients and establishing a warm rapport, type detailed and accurate medical history, listen closely and scribe detailed notes rapidly, answer basic medical questions
• Surgical -- assist in skin cancer removals; assist in surgical excisions for melanomas, and skin biopsies; perform suture removals; explain post-op wound care
• Cosmetic -- assist in treatments such as Botox, fillers, lasers, chemical peels; help soothe patients and manage anxiety
• Back office medical -- call patients with biopsy results, explain skin cancer diagnoses and treatment plans, create templates for medical visits in our EMR, update patient forms, create educational handouts
• Receptionist/Help with front desk -- periodically answer patient calls, explain services we offer, schedule appointments
• Administrative support -- order supplies, monitor inventory
• Skin care product sales – provide advice on ingredients and uses, ring up sales
• Team player – this is a small office, so our team will be cross-trained to help with everything, such as reception, as well as the random not-so-glamorous things needed to grow our small business
• Executive assistance - helping with errands, online purchases, returns, mail

Qualifications:

• Ideally available for multiple years and someone with 2+ years of experience as a derm MA, plastic surgery MA, scribing, or in a spa/wellness center
• High energy with a warm, outgoing personality - you love talking to people and have a fun yet professional, poised demeanor
• Self-starter – can take on multiple projects and run with them to successful completion, great at online research and figuring out new things; real go-getter attitude, being always ready to help our patients or your teammates
• Strong computer skills – Word, Excel, social media, EMRs
• Good at multitasking – checking patients in and out, handling phone calls, admin work, and managing higher level projects at the same time
• Perk – You not only love skincare, you have a working knowledge of dermatology services and skincare products

Compensation and Perks:

• $26-33/hr depending on prior clinical experience
• $4,000 starting bonus - $500 at 6 months, $1500 at 1 year, $2000 at 2 years
• 2 weeks paid time off (PTO) per year
