DESCRIPTION:
Snook’s Butcher Shoppe, d.b.a Colasanti’s Produce and Plants is a family owned, gourmet grocery store and greenhouse located in Highland, Michigan. Please DO NOT confuse this with Highland Park. We are adjacent to the town of Milford. Our store mission is Fresh Food and Friendly People. We pride ourselves on not being a chain store and provide quality food with great customer service to our customers. Many of our customers frequent our store several times a week and are just like family.

SUMMARY OF JOB:
The Deli Manager provides leadership in Deli Department by directing and managing all associates activities, including their in store training, orders all products and supplies for the deli, schedules associates, determines production amounts, and implements merchandising initiatives to grow the business while meeting customer requirements and maximizing profits. Must be a skilled decorator.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Supervises all associates in the Deli Department. Specific number depends upon the time of year.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS:
Technical skills needed in the Deli industry, including purchasing and pricing of Deli products. Good leadership skills with friendly, outgoing attitude. Strong verbal skills for dealing with customers and associates. Ability to read and understand profit and loss statements and to interpret various reports. Some knowledge of computers.

Must be safeserv certified.

WORKING CONDITIONS :
Works behind the Deli counter and works directly with the kitchen staff. Will stand for long periods of time. Constant interaction with customers and associates daily.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages department inventories by tracking weekly sales reports and orders products and supplies so as to meet customer requirements, improve department sales and the company’s gross profit goals.
  • Schedules all deli associates following allowable hour guidelines as set the Owner, oversees and participates in ongoing training efforts in which department associates are taught specialized skills developed over years, rewards and recognizes associate performance and delegates work assignments so as to most effectively utilize the talents and abilities of associates while maximizing department productivity and profits.
  • Develops and implements merchandising plans or follows guidelines or suggestions for merchandising plans provided by others that meet the financial objectives of the department. Keeps abreast of all weekly advertised and in store specials to insure correct pricing and proper production amounts.
  • Inspects and checks product and supplies upon delivery. Enforces and follows department practices regarding receiving, dating and restocking to ensure product rotation. Monitors product quality and freshness. Ensures that out-of-code products are pulled off the shelves and reduced.
  • Maintains budgeted percentages related to sales, labor controls and shrink control.
  • Maintains effective housekeeping program. Ensures compliance with all company policies that relate to the safety of associates and cleanliness and sanitation. Maintains and ensures compliance with local, state and government weights and measures and health department regulations.
  • Greets and takes orders from customers while maintaining a positive and friendly attitude. Identifies areas in the Deli Department where improvement in customer service is required, then makes necessary changes to address these concerns. Instills a positive customer service image with all deli associates.
  • Also performs duties of staff as required, insuring that all positions in de;o are covered on a daily basis.
