Jacobs is hiring for a Mid-Database Engineer to support our customer in Crystal City, VA!
The Database Engineer Mid position is part of a team that maintains and improves multiple mission-critical applications located in the AWS Gov Cloud. The team is fully cloud-based and focuses on the automation of all tasks utilizing a CI/CD pipeline. This pipeline includes an automated transfer of data/projects to multiple domains via a cross-domain solution. The team utilizes agile methodologies to plan projects and tasks and break them down into 2-week sprints. The team is made up of cloud engineers and developers working closely together to complete projects. We are looking for engineers/developers that want to implement and learn cutting-edge cloud technologies and services to support our customer and their multiple national security missions. The supported application is a critical mission system, supporting thousands of online users. The role requires experience supporting critical apps.
This mid-level database engineer will work with minimal guidance from the Project Manager to accomplish requirements associated with supporting agile development projects. This role multifaceted and includes working information security, Oracle/Postgres database administration, AWS service/automation, and Linux administration. The person will be responsible for managing specific tasks and ensuring solutions and schedules are implemented promptly. They will possess the ability to manage, track and report on the accomplishments of the work assigned.
This position is a hybrid position with two days onsite at our customer’s location in Crystal City and allows for 3 days a week of remote work. Additional onsite days may be required based on mission need.
- 4 years of experience engineering and supporting enterprise databases
- 4 years of experience with programming and database scripting
- Experience with clustered configurations, redundancy, backup and recovery
- Ability to interface with the customer and our ISSO team regarding tracking, POAMs and remediation of ACSA (cloud) and Nessus findings for maintaining our authority to operate (ATO).
- Ability to provide some assistance for the data team and needs to be versed in Oracle, administration, monitoring and tuning
- Requires a working knowledge of AWS services including VPC/networking, EC2, S3, RDS, CloudFormation and Lambda
- CentOS/RHEL Linux experience preferred, must be comfortable on the command line
- Ability to conduct daily operational checks and product deployments
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including customer interaction and process documentation
Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or other related analytical, scientific, or technical discipline
Clearance Requirement: Active Top Secret, SCI eligible, with ability to obtain a POLY
Desired Skills, but not required:
- CI/CD – Experience with Gitlab is preferred, but CI/CD experience with Jenkins or other tooling is a plus
- Source Control – experience with infrastructure as code, checked into source control (Git is preferred)
- Artifactory experience is a plus
- Experience working with a cross-domain solutions is a plus
- Splunk experience preferred
- ELK, Elasticsearch, and/or NoSQL experience
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus
- Familiarity with Agile and participating in Agile ceremonies
- Being familiar with typical enterprise tools such as SharePoint, Jira and Confluence
