Job Summary

Part-time position, Grade 11. 17.5 hours per week. Department of Public Works, Buildings & Grounds.

Performs building cleaning and related work. Work involves cleaning the inside of County buildings and facilities. Work requires ability to follow instructions. Work is performed under technical supervision.

Essential Job Functions/Other Duties/KSA

Cleans restrooms, replenishes supplies, and cleans drinking fountains.
Vacuums all carpet.
Picks up and empties trash and recyclables. Washes trash cans as needed.
Cleans glass in doors and other areas.
Locks and unlocks doors as required.
Polishes furniture.
Cleans vents.
Dusts all areas of facility.
Cleans other buildings and areas as needed.
Sweeps and mops interior stairs. Sweeps and cleans exterior stairs.
Cleans interior windows, walls, woodwork, mirrors, doors, etc.
Cleans spots on carpet as needed.
Sweeps, mops, and buffs floors.
Sweeps exterior entrance areas and empties ash/trash cans.
Other Duties
Performs related work as required.
Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities (These are pre-employment KSA that apply only to Essential Job Functions.)
Ability to-
  • Perform building cleaning work.
  • Follow oral and written instructions.

  • Deal effectively with the public.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Qualifications (Note: Any acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience that provides the above knowledge, skills, and abilities may be substituted on a full-time year for year basis.)

Training and/or Education:
Completion of the eighth grade.

Experience:
Six months of relevant work experience.

None

Special Requirements:
May be subject to background investigation.

Physical Demands:
Requires long periods of standing, frequent walking indoors, repeated bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, or reaching; recurring lifting of objects up to 49 pounds.

Unusual Demands:
Worker is exposed to dirt and soil, and hazards from working with waste material.

May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
