Serves as a Contract Monitor for the Health Services Unit. Conducts audits, reviews and observes health care operations to identify and document compliance and noncompliance in accordance with current laws, VADOC policies, procedures, guidelines and ACA standards of care. Provide feedback to medical authorities, facility administrator(s) and VADOC lead staff. Important to note: After the Department of Corrections ends the comprehensive medical contract, this position will become a Health Care Compliance Specialist doing similar audit functions at institutions across the Commonwealth.

Position located at Powhatan, Virginia

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent

Valid driver’s license

Well rounded education in nursing or medical background

Knowledge of Medical/Nursing Guidelines and Community Healthcare Standards

Working knowledge of electronic health records and EMARS

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

Ability to comprehend medical terminology

Ability to evaluate compliance of daily operations

Ability to organize and complete work assignments with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications
Prefer graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree as a Registered Nurse, and clinical major, or health care administration/compliance

Prefer demonstrated ability to review contracts

Correctional experience is preferred
