Triad Engineering is in search of a Construction Safety Manager to lead our onsite Safety & Health program in Charleston, SC under the supervision of the onsite project manager with guidance from the corporate safety director in Cleveland, OH. Triad Engineering & Contracting is a heavy/civil construction contractor focusing on utilities, excavations, tunneling, and general civil construction. This role would begin immediately. Work hours are 8-10 hours/day Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays.

The Safety Manager will be expected to develop the following four principles of safety leadership on the project:

EDUCATE

Preparing the training materials for safety meetings, provide professional information in safe work practices, be a reliable and useful source of safety & health related information to staff and work crews

FACILITATE

Assist supervision in organization and planning of safe work and facilitate tools and materials when necessary to help crews maintain a high level of risk reduction

REPORT

Utilizing our cloud based software, reporting all elements (good and bad) of the field work

INSPIRE

Strive to instill a sense of personal accountability in all site personnel for ownership and correction of unsafe work conditions.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting field personnel with risk reduction in their daily work environment
• New hire processing, safety orientations, past skills/education system entry
• Periodic site and equipment inspections on the surface and in the tunnel
• Supply, stock, inventory all first aid, PPE, and all other safety equipment
• Maintain fleet of gas monitors
• Drug Free Workplace Program management
• Respiratory Protection Program management
• Perform industrial hygiene monitoring as necessary (ventilation, dust/silica, noise)
• Injured employee care management
• Incident investigations
• Performing safety and health educational sessions as necessary
• Maintaining tunnel rescue equipment in a ready state and leading periodic tunnel rescue training sessions (initial education will be provided)
• Coordinating with local emergency services for emergency action planning
• Researching relevant safety and health specifications and codes for compliance to our applications

Education & Qualification Requirements

· Associate degree

· OSHA 510 (30-hour construction)

· Construction Experience: Minimum 3 years

· CHST preferred but not required

· Bilingual Spanish required

· Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office

Physical Requirements

· Ability to stand and/or walk all day on rough terrain, wet/slippery conditions, and in hot or cold environments

· Ability to climb ladders

· Lift 30 pounds from the floor to overhead

· Climb, bend, squat, reach, kneel for extended periods

Pay: $61,259.00 - $66,620.00 per year
