Computer Technician Job at Western Heights Public Schools

Qualifications:

  • Five year in related field preferred
  • Knowledge of: computer systems, component installation, minor software/hardware troubleshooting and repair (or demonstrate the ability to learn)
  • Hold Valid Oklahoma State Drivers license

Special Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Communication skills (oral, written, or business) - Basic communication skills to exchange information, give/receive simple instructions and respond to inquiries. Includes filling out forms.
Data Recording/Record Keeping: Performs simple data recording/record keeping operations requiring logging, filing, or posting single entry items.
Reading and Interpreting: Reads and interprets routine written or printed materials such as policies, diagrams, or technical manuals.
Reports to: Chief Information Officer
Essential Responsibilities

  • Conducting routine maintenance of computer hardware and operating system
  • Installation of software
  • Assist in maintaining of inventory and report discrepancy
  • Perform hardware and software troubleshooting
  • Hardware upgrades to include but not limited to:
  • Changing hard drives
  • Installing CD-ROM Drives
  • Installing circuit cards
  • Other duties as assigned

Successful performance of the job requires people skills to deal with difficult situations. It requires following safety guidelines and policies to protect students and staff. It requires following school dress standards, being on time, being dependable, and handling other district requirements. Effective problem-solving skills are important to prevent problems from occurring and to resolve them after they occur. Must be able to cooperate with other staff members and have a positive attitude towards staff, students, and the public to enhance educational goals.
Supervision:
No direct supervision

Physical/Mental Requirements:
In a workday, the employee must stand/walk approximately 7-8 hours per day. Employee's job requires frequent to continuous bending/stooping; squatting/crouching; occasional to frequent crawling/kneeling; frequent climbing (height 6-foot ladder to change lights); frequent to continuous reaching above shoulder; continuous pushing/pulling.
Employee's job requires frequent lifting 50-75 pounds and occasional carrying/lifting over 75 pounds. Such major lifting is to move furniture/tables, equipment and supplies generally during the off-school months. Job requires employee to use both hands for such repetitive actions requiring simple/firm grasping and/or fine manipulation.
Employee must possess manual dexterity/visual ability to install computer equipment. Employee must possess hearing/speaking ability to communicate with fellow workers and the students/public.
Employee must have mental requirement to understand and follow instructions and avoid safety problems. Employee's job may require working on a step ladder for cabling and other issues related to technology equipment.
