DESCRIPTION OF THE DISTRICT:

The Brandon School District is a mid-size school district nestled in Northwest Oakland County. The district has approximately 1,000 students in junior kindergarten-5th grade between the two elementary schools, approximately 600 at the middle school level and approximately 850 at the high school. This small, tight knit community has a strong connection to its schools and is passionate about the education of its youth. Brandon High School sends 85-90% of its graduates to post-secondary school each year, it was ranked in the 82ndpercentile of all schools in the State on the top-to-bottom rankings and it was awarded as a Silver Medal Winner by the US News. Our elementary schools are both one-to-one technology are each near the 83rd percentile in State rankings.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Computer Support Technician is responsible for providing day-to-day support for both staff and students as well as contributing to district technology projects and initiatives.

Day-to-day support may include technical support services for the district's staff, computer network, PC’s, cloud services, and student devices.

Examples of recent and upcoming project work include deploying a new phone system district wide, deploying new Wi-Fi and classroom technology, augmenting IP camera security, Virtualization upgrades, and many other smaller initiatives.

The primary work site is the Brandon High School with local travel to the Middle School, Harvey-Swanson Elementary and Oakwood Elementary. Milage is reimbursed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Service district hardware and software for client and server computers, networks, telephones, and related peripheral equipment to ensure their usability.

· Install and relocate equipment, including unpacking, placement, connections, and configuration, to facilitate staff use.

· Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment to resolve failures, malfunctions, or configuration issues, coordinating warranty services with vendors and service providers as necessary.

· Maintain accurate records of hardware, software, peripherals, components, licensing, shipping, and other relevant information.

· Assist with audio/video connectivity and troubleshooting to ensure systems are available for use.

· Conduct basic system maintenance and monitoring to minimize system downtime.

· Update or upgrade equipment on local and networked systems to ensure continued functionality.

· Perform systems analysis and consult with users regarding hardware, software, or system functionality.

· Document procedures for both internal department use and end users.

· Provide guidance on emerging technologies and advise on technology purchases to align site technology planning with district technology planning.

· Deliver training on software and hardware operations and maintenance.

· Promote best practices in computer systems use to ensure staff have proper access and district security is maintained.

· Prepare reports and maintain documentation on district technology to support the technology roadmap.

· Prioritize and escalate resolution of computer and network issues appropriately, coordinating with support staff and end users to meet staff technical needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· High school diploma or GED

· Self-starter with the drive and ability to manage workload and plan support tasks independently.

· Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.

· Physical ability to lift 50 pounds and sit for extended periods while working on a computer.

· Enthusiasm for technology and remaining knowledgeable in and the promotion of its usage.

· Knowledge and experience with Windows 10/11 and Google Chrome operating systems.

· Familiarity with Apple iPad and concepts of mobile device management.

· Proficiency in network, workstation, printer, and AV equipment setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

· Ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential information and documents.

· Ability to maintain clear, concise, and consistent records of work performed.

· Effective utilization of various software applications, including but not limited to word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, graphic design, and database software.

· Interpersonal and communication skills to provide courteous and accurate information to staff, students, parents, constituent school districts, community and state agencies, vendors, and other stakeholders.

· Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, provide training as needed, support faculty, and handle confrontational situations both online and offline.

· Capacity to understand and integrate complex concepts, difficult procedures, or complicated processes.

WORKDAY/WEEK: Monday – Friday

STARTING DATE: ASAP

COMPENSATION: $17.00 to $20.00 per hour depending on experience (Contracted through Edustaff)
