Position Overview
The Community Workforce Specialist provides outreach and training to the business community, as well as Library staff. In addition, this position works closely with the public to offer resources for job skills. The Community Workforce Specialist will also work within a team to continuously grow career services offerings.
Essential Functions
  • Expert for workforce and career online resources
  • Connects customers, community members and staff to workforce and career resources.
  • Represents the Library by attending different business organizations meetings and events
  • Contributes to social media accounts and creates workforce development content for resource partners
  • Workforce liaison for the business community and job seekers
    • Creates job skills workshops
    • Works with partner organizations to assess gaps in work-force related services
    • Conducts 1:1 consultation on library and career resources
Non-essential Functions
  • Facilitates Square One programs as needed
  • Serves as the backup for any of the specialists for the Square One Department
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma/HiSet/GED Completion required
  • Some College courses preferred
  • Knowledge of social media, community programming, and event planning required
  • Demonstrated ability to speak to small and large groups

  • Demonstrate proficiency researching, analyzing, compiling, and delivering data in a systematic and objective manner to assist customers
  • Remains current on library trends in workforce development and career services
  • Possesses knowledge of the library’s career and workforce development resources
  • Possesses the ability to identify, comprehend and apply workforce development and career services best practices to support the library programming and customers

  • Intermediate knowledge of workforce development and careers services technology resources
  • Demonstrates skill in document and content creation, data entry, and manipulation
  • Demonstrates ability to learn and subsequently train staff, customers and community members on workforce development and career services related topics

MVR Requirement
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and a reliable personal vehicle for use in carrying out the duties of this position including transportation of materials and equipment (mileage reimbursed).
