Position Description:
Reporting to the Chief Development and Communications Officer, the Community Education and Outreach Coordinator (CEOC) implements comprehensive outreach, education, and engagement initiatives which contribute directly to a greater understanding of Kansas City Hospice services as well as serious illness, end-of-life, and grief topics. The CEOC is responsible for preparing education and outreach materials including online/digital and print communications, informative updates and reports, and PowerPoint decks on a variety of topics most often including general Kansas City Hospice service information, hospice & palliative care, and grief.

The CEOC works to develop relationships throughout the community and is particularly focused on developing relationships within communities of color. Serving as the point of contact for education requests and offerings, the CEOC trains and coordinates volunteers and internal staff to provide in-person and virtual education and outreach on an ongoing basis, including coordination of the Kansas City Hospice virtual community education series.

  • Ensure integration and interaction across organizational programs.

  • Build rapport and connection with community members, including grassroots-style outreach in targeted communities.
  • Connect members of the community with relevant services provided by Kansas City Hospice and identify other pertinent services available in the community.
  • Organize outreach and education efforts including events, both virtual and in-person, distribution of educational materials, and speaking engagements in individual or group settings.
  • Coordinate and oversee the work of volunteer and contracted speakers.
  • Measure and analyze knowledge gained by attendees.
  • Monitor and evaluate programmatic strategies, success indicators, and strategic goals and identify/implement tactical adjustments as needed to achieve goals.
  • Ensures achievement of program metrics including goals specified by grants and other goals as identified by organizational management.
  • Ensures compliance with organization policies and procedures and compliance with program-related grant requirements.
  • Report program progress, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Attend meetings, trainings and events related to the program.
  • Participate in relevant committee coalitions and committees that advance the goals of the project and contribute to relationship development with local partners.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess the Following Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Prefer a minimum of bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Human Services, or related field.
  • 3 years of professional relevant job experience, or a combination of the above.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, sensitivity to people’s needs, solid understanding of health topics including hospice & palliative care and grief, and have the ability to interact with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
  • Prefer fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Requires experience working within communities of color and sensitivity to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
