POSITION SUMMARY: The Commercial Analyst will help profitably grow the DHC Segment by directing the development, implementation and communication of marketing/business strategies and tactical action plans. Effectively manage the 4-Ps for the segment creating end-market and product strategies by driving new segment analysis and development. Assist in managing the PPDHC internal and external stakeholders to grow the business via maximizing market opportunities. Primary focus will be on developing segment analysis and strategies that will deliver profitable market share to PPDHC.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Understands the business and end-markets and uses this knowledge to create strategic advantages in decision making. Considers the long-term implication of segment strategies and is able to leverage this knowledge to ensure that all of the functions of DHC which relate to the segment are informed and coordinated to target best opportunities.
  • Leads and influences others and is able to move the DHC segment team [internal and external] toward clearly identified marketing goals so that they are able to achieve objectives which support the objectives of the business. Consistently achieves marketing objectives of increasing market share and defining a product leadership position for PPDHC.
  • Develop forecasts as needed for use in business analysis, capacity planning and capital requests. Monitor sales and earnings of DHC product offerings and issues reports and tracking trends.
  • Monitor industry trends in general, and help organization to identify emerging markets, opportunities, product areas and acquisitions. Participate in annual operating and long-range plans.
  • Lead and promote the key growth initiatives and segment key inputs in order to generate actionable information regarding segment needs and wants. Use this information develop product strategies and specifications. Model field related efforts to open new products to the DHC business and to help set expectations for the broader team. Perform thorough competitive analysis aimed at understanding the strengths and weaknesses of our competitor's company, products and strategies.
  • Develop and implement thorough strategies and product/price promotions to grow the business in District Energy segment. Determine the position that each product should hold within the market and develop programs to support this position. Implement programs to grow revenue and maintain/grow margins. Sells products by maintaining and expanding customer base.
  • Works with Engineering and Manufacturing to help drive user desired technologies and innovation. Be the voice within the organization to make sure these plans are understood throughout the organization. Support new product development and engineering efforts to capitalize on key market opportunities. Provide direction to engineering and manufacturing to expedite projects based on clear market needs and priorities.
  • Contributes DHC market information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews.
  • Establishes Marketing Plan in support of national objectives.
  • Maintains and expands customer base by counseling Manufacturing Sales Representatives, building and maintaining rapport with key customers, and identifying new customer opportunities.
  • Identifies and recommends new product opportunities and service changes by surveying consumer needs and trends, and tracking competitors.
  • Performs other duties/ projects as assigned or as required by the position.


WORKING RELATIONSHIPS/REPORTING
: Works with outside Manufacturers Sales Representatives, outside sales personnel and inside functional personnel. Reports to the General Manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:


EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors degree required in business, marketing, or comparable discipline. MBA preferred.


EXPERIENCE:

  • 7+ years of progressive marketing experience including 3 - 5 years of market analysis, segmentation and strategy formation
  • Experience obtaining & translating end -market/user requirements into successful strategies, products and / or services required
  • Previous experience in a comparable role.
  • Experience using MS Office software


TRAVEL
: 25% of the time required.


EQUIPMENT TO BE USED
: Must be able to operate computer, phone and other office equipment as the job requires.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Able to sit for long periods of time, with good hand / finger dexterity for typing / data entry. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move items over 5 pounds. Occasional visits to construction / job sites will be required. Adequate mobility and the ability to spend several hours in external conditions is necessary. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.


MENTAL DEMANDS
: Must handle diverse work problems on a daily basis. Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. Must relate and interact with people at all levels in the Company.


WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a typical office setting. Able to sit for long periods of time, with good hand/finger dexterity for typing/data entry. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move items over 5 pounds. Occasional visits to construction/job sites will be required. Adequate mobility and the ability to spend several hours in external conditions is necessary. This position will require working of additional hours on an as needed basis.
