Job Summary:

The Care New England Medical Group (CNEMG) President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for the oversight of the 350 physicians, 260 advanced clinicians, and 370 support staff across the system.

  • Reporting to the Care New England President & CEO and sitting on system's Executive Leadership Team, the CNEMG President and COO will ensure that the Medical Group provides quality services that are financially sound, in compliance with regulatory requirements and meet the needs of patients and their families.
  • Will also be responsible for expanding Medical Group outreach activities and referral networks to ensure effective partnerships are formed to facilitate the development of a comprehensive integrated health system.
  • The CNEMG President & COO has the responsibility to ensure the integration of operations and implementing system wide goals in a way that allows the system to deliver exceptional care experiences to our patients and a positive work experience for our employees.
  • The incumbent will champion system values and culture to ensure that CNEMG is building a welcoming environment that promotes equity and diversity for both its employees and patients, and driving practices to eliminate health disparities for underserved populations in our communities.

Requirements:

  • Education: Masters, Business Administration required; Clinical MD/DO preferred
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years demonstrated leadership and progressive healthcare management
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate to all levels of an organization
  • Ability to develop a vision and strategy that drive continuous improvement and operational excellence across a physician organization
  • Success in fostering productive relationships with Boards, executive leadership, academic and departmental chairs, medical staff, employees, and external partners through engagement, communication, and transparency
  • Works closely with the CNEMG Board of Managers in developing the mission and long range strategic plans.
  • Ability to facilitate change and foster integration among physicians
  • Success in a transformational healthcare environment, developing new service lines, growing patient volume, expanding services, recruiting and building relationships with physicians, and advancing practice in a competitive market
  • Strong financial acumen and demonstrated experience managing fiscal performance
  • Strong analytical skill set with sound judgment and the ability to develop creative and strategic recommendations. Sophisticated understanding of healthcare, all related regulatory requirements, and financial matters; a strong, experience-based knowledge of value-based care.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic business and operating plans in a competitive market environment
  • Able to sustain an environment of continuous quality improvement, including identification of concrete performance measures across clinical, service, financial, operational, management, patient satisfaction, and community functions.
  • Participates in the development of the System's strategic plan as well as short and long-term objectives that will ensure the continued growth and provision of necessary services in the community. Executes strategic plans aimed at improving efficiency, enhancing market share, and improving overall medical group performance.
  • Provide clinical expertise and leadership in the design and implementation of strategic initiatives, quality programs and patient experience initiatives across the medical group and system. Develops and executes plans for driving the organization's culture of patient safety, patient satisfaction, and population health.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at an executive level, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of clinician and/or staff hiring procedures.
  • Experience developing competitive and innovative physician and APC compensation programs.
  • Ability to make evaluative judgments.
  • Experience in a highly competitive market is ideal.
  • Possesses the highest personal integrity and ethics.
  • Commitment to clinical excellence and performance improvement.
