Job Description:
The Dimensional Lab Technician is responsible for dimensional and / or functional verification of tooling and / or casting to ensure compliance with customer specifications and expectations. A variety of measuring tools, including Coordinate Measuring Machine and calibrated manual instruments are to be used to collect the measured data. Technician will be able to analyze and interpret the collected data, often through the use of a variety of specialized databases and software available in the lab, to effect meaningful and accurate corrective actions and / or repairs (casting and / or tooling). Technicians interact with associates and managers of numerous departments so good communication skills are a must. Technicians will participate in on-the-job training and / or assisting in the performance of duties as directed by management. Technician will perform all tasks described in the Dimensional Lab W.I, including maintenance and calibration per work instruction of controlled gages. Technicians will possess a high level of safety awareness and Housekeeping. Technicians will perform all tasks requested by management personnel

Essential Functions:

· Operate Coordinate Measuring Machine(s) in both manual and automatic mode knowing which CMM capability is needed for a specific check.

· Perform required tool qualification at frequency set by leadership.

· Assure correct CMM program utilized per the task presented.

· Replace tools and/or build tool profiles in PCDMIS.

· Operate various measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, surface finish instruments, etc.)

· Perform daily/weekly/monthly preventive maintenance activities on measurement equipment.

· Perform daily/weekly/monthly 5S tasks as directed by Team Leader.

· Interpretation of measurement results and composition of corrective actions or repair requests for castings and / or tooling (Tooling Work Order Database).

· Good knowledge and correct application of calibrated manual measuring instruments used in the lab.

· Understand the hierarchy of and correct application of the labs reference materials and Blueprints, as well as read and interpret these documents.

· Produce records, charts, graphs, and reports as needed (SPC).

· Application of Statistical Process Control principles and reaction to rule violations.

· Ability to operate band-saw and milling machine.

· Preparation of part prior to loading onto CMM (Trim/Manicure).

· Perform visual audit of product prior to insertion into Coordinate Measuring Machine.

· Perform math model verification as needed or directed by leadership.

· Input all relevant and required data into QC database.

· Confirmation of repairs made per Tooling Work Order requirements.

Basic understanding of ISO/TS 16949 Quality System elements as pertinent to Dimensional Lab.

Minimum requirements (training, experience, education):

Ability to work overtime on short notice, including weekends

Associate degree in a technical field or at least 2 years’ experience running CMM’s

Ability to perform CMM checks and create programs using math models

Mechanical blueprint reading and GDT

Competency in math and the metric system.

Good written and verbal communication skills

Proficient Computer skills in MS Windows Operating System and Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access).

Pay: $23.31 - $27.37 per hour
