Primary Function: The Club Fit Program Coordinator will implement the Atlanta Falcons Fitness Zone program grant and supervise other athletic programs and Club Fit staff. The Coordinator will be responsible for providing measurable outcomes and perform all related administrative duties.


Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities):

  • Lead Club Fitness staff for fitness and physical activities at Club sites.
  • Plan, coordinate, and ensure the implementation of all Club Fit program components at all sites.

    • Triple Play Healthy Habits
    • Play Works (when available)
    • Free Play
  • Plan and deliver the daily program curriculum activities with the youth participants at the site and engage their active participation. (This position will deliver the Hops Sports activity and Spark PE activity lessons to each grade at the school and/or each child in the after-school program that is enrolled in Club Fit, as well as teach the Health Habits lessons to Club youth, have the Club Fit Instructor(s) and YDPs assistance).
  • Coordinate professional development opportunities for Club Fit Instructors and program partner/ school system staff (if applicable) at site with the assistance of the Director of Athletics & Healthy Lifestyles.
  • Market and promote the Club Fit/Fit Zone program and all program components at site and in the surrounding community, including educating parents of Club Fit participants.
  • Enroll youth participants in the Club Fit program on site.
  • Meet with Site Coordinator and Program Partner staff to ensure program services build upon and are supportive of existing nutrition and physical education program services.
  • Ensure the collection of baseline data and periodic benchmark data (including the required Fitness Grams) off all program participants at each site.
  • Prepare, write, and submit all Club Fit monthly program reports to the Director of Athletics & Healthy Lifestyles (including, but not limited to attendance, programs, etc)
  • Coordinate the Club Fit Summer Activities (including field trip opportunities to expose youth to life long and non-traditional sports) for all sites.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance and use of all Club Fit program equipment and supplies
  • Assist with all Athletic leagues of the Boys and Girls Club, as well as, helping to recruit players and coaches for the leagues.
  • Work with the Director of Athletics & Healthy Lifestyles to organize league play and tournaments.
  • Work with the Director of Athletics & Healthy Lifestyles in supervising league officials and coaches.
  • Work with the Director of Athletics & Healthy Lifestyles in running specialized athletic camps and mini camps to be offered to club members.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Acquire CDL licensing and drive Club vehicles.
  • Submit requests for purchase of supplies and equipment as described in the BGCL Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Exercise authority in problem solving relating to members utilizing guidance and discipline plan.

Relationships:

Internal: Maintains contact with schools, staff and parents ensuring all are informed as to how their kids are doing in the Club Fit program. Assist parents who need help with understanding school process and information. Work closely with each related staff member ensuring that they have the ability to deliver the needed outcomes for the PEP grant. Ensure all needed supplies are ordered for the Club Fit and related activities.

External: Keeps up to date with all opportunities for our Club members within the Club Fit program and make recommendations to Club administrators as to how we can best improve our delivery. Maintain close contact with Club Fit volunteers. Ensure communication with external community groups to publicize the BGCL Club Fit program

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

Physical requirements include physical exertion such as lifting up to 40lbs, stretching, rigorous physical activity and bending in a Club setting as well as standing for long periods. The work environment is in a Club or school environment and includes interaction with youth ages 6-18 and can be noisy at time.

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Associates degree or some college in the physical education, health or youth development field is preferred or equivalent job experience.
  • Two or more years’ experience in directing and implementing youth, physical education or sports programs is required. Experience with Boys & Girls Clubs is preferred.
  • Experience in implementing grant-funded programs is preferred.
  • Ability to network with school administrators and personnel
  • Ability to motivate Club members
  • Mandatory CPR/First Aid certification required, while additional certifications or training in the physical education field preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
