Summary

The Clinical Informatics Manager is responsible for leading clinical transformation at their assigned facility/location by engaging the correct stakeholders on both the operational and ITS side to coordinate change through a data driven and evidence-based approach at a system level.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead ongoing workflow analysis and process improvement initiatives through all clinical and operational aspects of the hospital and ambulatory setting.
  • Understand, analyze, and reinforce the use of data and reporting in daily routines and to support decisions making.
  • Leader and facilitator in the change management process to support system level standardization transformations.
  • Manage informatics projects through to completion by ensuring tasks are appropriately assigned and completed by the deadlines agreed upon.
  • Work closely with the Quality team through incident review and chart auditing to determine needs for process change or educational focus to improve patient safety or meet regulatory needs.
  • Partner with the ITS and IT teams to ensure optimization and hardware, software applications, and interfaces to improve outcomes.
  • Support clinical and operational workflows in Epic throughout the hospital and ambulatory settings by troubleshooting, demonstrating, and educating to Epic functionality.
  • Creation and communication of education to staff and providers on Epic, workflows, and policy/protocol changes as appropriate.
  • Responsible for preparation of materials and education of staff on Downtime processes including, scheduling regular downtime drills. Coordinate with ITS during a downtime and communicate with facility/practices as needed to guide through the downtime and recovery process.

Job Requirements

  • Knowledge of process improvement, workflow design/analysis, and project management tools
  • Analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Able to lead/facilitate meetings and present content to various leadership forums
  • Understand overall hospital and ambulatory operation processes from front end registration through clinical care and billing to consider implications of changes at a system-wide level.
  • Various application skills including, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, and SharePoint.
  • Role will be assigned to one facility as primary location but will travel to other acute/ambulatory locations or corporate office as needed.
  • Longer daily work hours, including availability at night, will be needed during times such as implementations, upgrades, and downtimes.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years experience as an acute/ambulatory Registered Nurse required. Experience in nursing leadership roles preferred.
  • BSN
  • Master’s degree or willingness to obtain.
  • Epic experience strongly preferred. Epic proficient/certification in a clinical application required within 2 months of hiring
