Description

Performs customer service, clerical and cashier work at the Loveland Visitors Center, with an emphasis on visitor services, cashiering and merchandising. This position reports to the Visitor Center Manager. Flexible and varied schedule between 0-19 hours/week including weekend hours. The hiring range for this position is $14.00- $17.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. Position will remain open until filled.

Loveland is an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise. Loveland has a rich history in the arts, with a massive public arts collection, three unique sculpture parks, and three bronze foundries, it is home to the largest outdoor sculpture show in the U.S. every August. Visit Loveland, the tourism arm of Economic Development for the City of Loveland is searching for a dynamic individual to run the Visitors Center and its retail component, manage part time staff and volunteers. The ideal candidate will be a friendly, outgoing, customer service focused story teller and itinerary builder to help further our brand messaging and mission by encouraging visitors to shop, eat stay, play in Loveland. Colorado.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Enhances Loveland Visitors Center image through positive, courteous, quality customer service provided to all customers.
  • Resolves customer issues and answers questions
  • Registers sales on cash register by scanning items, itemizing and totaling customer purchases and processes payment transactions.
  • Stocks, inventories, and sets displays and store merchandise.
  • Processes merchandise invoices for payment.
  • Responsible for opening and closing procedures (keyholder)
  • Provides clerical support such as typing, work processing, filing, report calculation and compilation, and various other duties per request.
  • May direct work of volunteers assisting visitors
  • Working as a tourism ambassador to inspire travel and build itineraries in and around Loveland to help create a memorable guest experience.
  • Sharing Loveland’s story with visitors from around the globe
  • Mastering local resources for visitors
  • Welcoming guests during various special events
  • Stuffing and creating goody bags for FAM tours/ groups
  • Working offsite Visitors Center booth/sales

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
May be required to cross train in other areas for duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
Must be able to complete fee transactions quickly and accurately; prepare daily cash report using math principles. Knowledge of point-of-sale systems. Must possess general working knowledge of standard office procedures and methods including Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook. Requires typing at a speed that would enable a transaction or project to be completed in a timely manner. Thorough knowledge of spelling, punctuation, grammar, arithmetic and business English. Must possess ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and the general public, and work efficiently with frequent interruptions. Ability to answer telephones and clearly communicate information. Must have excellent customer service skills and be able to deal with customers diplomatically and effectively and demonstrate the skills of good judgment and patience. Must be able to operate menu driven computer/cash register system.

Education and/or experience:
One (1) year of previous work experience performing customer service and clerical duties including high degree of public contact and customer relations in a fast paced environment required. Experience with computerized cash register point-of-sale (POS), and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Exel, Outlook) required. Previous retail merchandising experience highly preferred. Some training in customer service preferred.

Familiarity and knowledge of Loveland, Colorado, community, and surrounding areas is required.

Spanish Speaking a plus.

Working conditions and physical requirements:
Will work in a store/office setting incorporating a typical customer service and office environment which requires both sitting or standing for extended periods of time, reaching, and repetitive keyboard motion. Stooping, bending, positioning up to approximately 30 pounds, pushing, pulling and kneeling required. Ability to move quickly and efficiently throughout work area is a necessity. Will be expected to perform duties during both peak periods when customer service activity is fast paced and intense or during relaxed periods.
