Certified Phlebotomy Technician Job at Howard County Community Heath Center
Howard County Community Health Center is currently hiring for a Certified Phlebotomy Tech. Hours are Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Collects, handles, prepares specimens for mailing and/or performing of simple analysis.
2. Ensures accuracy of test results by utilizing only sanctioned procedures in specimen collection and handling.
3. Maintain accurate recordings of temperatures on refrigerators/freezers and forward results to the Texas Department of Health as required.
4. Recognize role in infection control by adhering strictly to procedures dealing with handling of specimens and disposing of contaminated products
5. Record test results accurately and report findings to authorized persons in a timely manner.
6. Maintain and operate lab equipment, including preventative servicing to ensure adequate usage is available as needed, maintains competency in performing CLIA waived testing.
7. Order and maintain adequate inventory of supplies.
8. Ensures an appropriate environment for the administration of healthcare by keeping laboratory area, all equipment, and other work areas in a clean, safe, and orderly fashion.
9. Participates in the community health center's performance improvement activities and performs duties in accordance with applicable standards
10. Maintain positive and professional attitude toward other employees and staff.
11. Recognize own role in marketing of clinic services by developing positive relations with the public in general.
12. Participates in the health center’s performance improvement activities and performs duties in accordance with applicable standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Satisfactory completion of a Phlebotomy training program.
2. Prefer previous experience in health care setting, ideally in an office practice.
3. Basic familiarity with routine medical protocol and terminology.
4. Must be qualified in CPR and/or Basic Life Support techniques.
5. Skills in communication and an affable attitude in order to accept directions, accept constructive criticism, and work with all personnel and patients.
